Sing me something new #4: Marsicans

Infectious melodies, fuzzy guitar licks and pop sensibilities... sounds good to us.

Who? Marsicans

Hometown: Leeds

For fans of: The 1975, Blossoms, Two Door Cinema Club, Peace

What's their story?

The Yorkshire four-piece bring jangly, rocking, indie vibes in the best possible way. Infectious melodies meet a dirty fuzz and plenty of pop sensibilities too, from an outfit who present themselves as contemporary thinkers and totally of their time.

This has seen the band catch the attention of Radio 1's Huw Stephens, with plenty of airplay from the esteemed new music tastemaker. They have also joined Yorkshire indie heroes Pigeon Detectives on tour, as well as Kaiser Chiefs at their massive homecoming gig at Leeds United's Elland Road.

On 22nd May, the band release their debut album Ursa Major, and that's very exciting news indeed. The band have been consistently dropping singles in the build up to their first full length studio release, the most recent being, 'Juliet' - which frontman James Newbigging described as '...me telling myself to stop being so stupid and to not dwell on matters that are out of my control, to just enjoy what I'm doing.'

Where can I see them?

The band are due to play at the Tunnels in Aberdeen on Wednesday 14th October, while there is a chance they will feature at the rescheduled Liverpool Sound City which has been postponed until September 25th.
