What's their story?
Wondering about that name? Listen to the music, it'll all make sense. Hailing from the UK, Sweden, and Central/South America, the London-based five-piece are channeling major Latin American vibes - inspired by Colombian and Panamanian 'cumbia music from the '70s and '80s - with gently swaying rhythms and dreamy, slacker guitar tones. It's a sound that feels like pure escapism.
Alex Kapranos, of Franz Ferdinand fame, produced one of their most recent singles, Pista (Great Start), saying: "Los Bitchos are cool. They are all attitude and killer tunes. Truly international with cumbia beats, Turkish psychedelia, a hint of Swedish pop and a touch of shoegaze shimmer. More than anything, they put you in a really good mood when you listen to them."
And who are we to argue with Kapranos?
Where can I see them?
Los Bitchos are due to play Bluedot Festival in July, Birmingham's Hare & Hounds on 28th September, and Manchester's YES on 1st October.
