We don't often get a hard dance mixes submitted at Skiddle, so it's always an event when one arrives. This time out, it's the long serving brotherly duo of Scott and Matt Harris, AKA Organ Donors, who've come through with a blistering mix chocked full of exclusive edits, reimagined and repackaged classics, and more hefty drops and snarling basslines than you can shake a sweaty fist at.
The hard edged, euphoria peddlars hit electronic music celebration Coloursfest at Glasgow's Braehead Arena on June 6th, alongside the likes of Steve Aoki, Showtek, Tidy Boys and Andy Whitby. We spoke to the hard dance veterans about their mix for us, their relationship with Tidy, and what to expect from their upcoming appearances.
So this mix you’ve done for us, is it an accurate reflection of the sound of your DJs at present?
This mix is exactly what we are all about, as most of the tracks are our own. That's not to say that we only play our own tracks in our sets. We just wanted to showcase our sound and some of our unreleased material on this one.
What producers have been a staple of your sets so far this year, and can you let us know on any records you think will be huge this summer?
We have been playing stuff from Nom De Strip, ACTI, Montorsi & Antolini, Gecko, ASYS to name a few. But the track we are most excited about is one of our own called 'Mad As Hell' This will be released on our own label Audio Surgery with a full crazy music video in the summer. Stay tuned for this one!
Can we expect a similar sort of vibe when you play for Tidy at Coloursfest?
Absolutely, we will be dropping all our new bombs a long with a few classics.
Tidy turns 20 this year; how has your relationship been with the label over the past two decades and how do they, in your eyes, rate in terms of influence within electronic music as well as hard dance?
We have always had a great relationship with Tidy. We have had various releases on the label, I guess 'Turntablism' would be the track most people know. And of course our album - 'Oldskool Autopsy'.
The Tidy brand has been hugely influential and is respected worldwide. Without Tidy and Nukleuz records, the scene in the UK would not exist. It was these brands that took the music to the masses, and we are privileged to have been a huge part of that.
Finally, what studio action can you let us in on for the future?
We are currently working on our third album... It seems to be taking fucking ages, but hopefully it will be worth it [laughs].
