We're well into festival season, and it looks like (fingers crossed) the weather is sticking around. August is the month when many of the biggest festivals in the country happen, and whilst we're sure many of you will have tunnel vision for these epic weekends, a lot of you will still be looking for stuff to do, so why not let Skiddle recommend you some events happening this month?
In August's Skiddle Recommends we've got a selection that will satiate any craving. From huge UK festivals with some last-minute tickets available, including the likes of Creamfields, Reggaeland, and Moovin; city-wide soirees where bands and DJs take over multiple venues across the city centre, like Mathew Street Festival and Manchester Psych Fest; and, as usual, the usual huge selection of raves that you know and love Skiddle for!

Liverpool Celebrates presents Mathew Street Festival
When: Friday 23rd August - Monday 26th August 2024
Liverpool Celebrates presents Mathew Street Festival makes its glorious return to Pier Head in Liverpool a decade on from its last edition, in a brand-new format with a wicked lineup.
The artists announced for Mathew Street Festival 2024 include Holly Johnson, The Jacksons, Lightning Seeds, N-Trance, Boyzlife, Bongo's Bingo Festival Experience with Jonny Bongo, and tribute acts to some legendary artists including Cavern Club Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Bowie, Prince, ABBA, The Doors, Adele, Queen, Elton John, Oasis, and more.
Tickets for Liverpool Celebrates presents Mathew Street Festival

Where: The National Bowl in Milton Keynes
2024 Lineup: Tarrus Riley, Morgan Heritage, Burning Spear, UB40 featuring Ali Campbell and many more
The UK's biggest Reggae Festival, Reggae Land will touch down in Milton Keynes Campbell Park this summer for an incredible weekend, teeming with performances from some of the best live reggae, dub, and dancehall artists around.
Across the two-day, family-friendly weekend event, big names always line up to play the stage, 2023 saw the festival rise to new heights as chart-topper Sean Paul headlined along with genre favourites like Beenie Man, Shy FX, David Rodigan, Junior Marvin & The Legendary Wailers and much more.
However, don't just go for the music! Punters will also be spoilt with an offering of delicious and authentic food in the festival Caribbean Food Village, with plenty of Caribbean cocktails and rum bars on hand to help wash it all down.

Arguably the champion of UK day festivals, MADE has been a widely-adored multi-genre electronic fest since its inception in 2014 with house, drum and bass, UKG, tech house, and more.
When you aren’t raving to the best names on the scene, you can get stuck into street food, street art displays, live demonstrations, and art installations. The team behind the fest have also promised the most ambitious production to date, so you know you’re in for a good 'un.

If we’re talking about the best UK dance festivals in 2024, it only makes sense to kick off with the biggest, baddest fest of all!
Everyone and their granny has heard about Creamfields. And for good reason. This truly massive celebration of every groove-worthy electronic genre goes down each year, attracting thousands and thousands of party animals to its home in Cheshire.
While we haven’t had any artist announcements yet, Creamfields never mess about with their lineups, inviting the biggest artists in the world from an array of electronic genres to soundtrack a wild weekend. You can expect a variety of genres including EDM, house, techno, tech house, trance, and more.

Where: Whitebottom Farm in Stockport
Moovin Festival returns to Whitebottom Farm in Stockport (Greater Manchester) on Friday 23rd - Sunday 25th August 2024, and once again, they’re bringing us an eclectic lineup covering DnB, reggae, house, soul, funk, and more.
Plus, with headliners Leftfield and Laurent Garnier, joined by Sampa The Great, Souls Of Mischief, David Rodigan, DJ Paulette, Mr Scruff & MC Kwasi, Congo Natty, Nubiyan Twist, K-Klass, Nicky Blackmarket, and many more. Following the launch of the Smalltown Boy exhibition in SWG3, the venue will be hosting a launch party rave in their warehouse, featuring DJs such as Jonbers Blonde (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Boy Shorts, Bonzai Bonner, Josh Caffe, and Bosco.
Celebrating the queer anthem of the same name by Bronski Beat on its 40th anniversary, the project chronicles the journey of a queer individual forced to leave their hometown due to prejudice and discrimination in a time backdropped by Thatcherism and Tory rule. Through a diverse range of artistic mediums, including photography, painting, sculpture, and a live rave installation, this exhibition presents a show of freedom and acceptance.

For one day in August, Manchester's staple celebration of the weird and wonderful world of psychedelic music will be returning to the heart of the city, and we for one cannot wait. The event always supplies trippy vibes and is spread across some of the city's finest venues, including Albert Hall, YES, Gorilla and the O2 Ritz.
Plus, with bands and artists like Baxter Dury, The Horrors, Temples, Newdad, Willie J Healey, and Heartworms performing, the lineup is a serious musical force to be reckoned with.

Where: Newcastle Town Moor in Newcastle
Patrick Topping’s TrickFest comes to Newcastle for its first-ever edition this summer. Bringing his label to his hometown, Topping will be performing at TrickFest along with an absolutely stacked lineup on Town Moor, an outdoor, grassy park space in the city centre.
On the bill is a collection of all the vest best from the Trick family, and a few special guests. From Morgan Seatree to Testpress, Danny Bond to Schak, Hannah Laing to Dom Dolla, plus an opening and closing session from Patrick Topping himself; it's gonna be a belter.

Teletech Festival will be back in Manchester with a bang this year. All the techno bangers you could want will be ready and waiting for you at the BEC Arena from Saturday 3rd to Sunday 4th August.

Another huge name in drum and bass - Hospitality. With over 21 years of experience in running partiers all over the world, Hospital Records and Hospitality are known for killer production, crystal-clear sound, and lineups that cover the drum and bass spectrum.
The legendary event organisers are bringing the party to London in August with a huge lineup for a one-day reunion in the sun. Set in the August sun expect it to be packed out with ravers who want to see the very best the genre has to offer.

Our House Nineties & Naughties Fest
When: Sunday 25th August 2024
Where: Brighouse Town Football Club in Halifax
When Brighouse Town FC isn’t a scene of shooting and scoring, it’ll host an epic daytime festival this August Bank Holiday Weekend, bringing back the classic sounds from the nineties and noughties. Our House Nineties & Naughties Fest will provide two stages of old skool and indie tribute acts on Saturday 25th August 2024, alongside an outdoor bar, a food village, entertainers, fairground rides and more!
Both sides of the coin for the nineties and noughties nostalgia are here to indulge in, as Graeme Park, Rob Tissera, Livin Joy ft Luzahnn, Dale Castell, Marc Leaf, John Marshall and Pete Monsoon make up the Old Skool Stage. Brummie UKG and bassline DJ/producer, Joe Hunt, a veteran of the UKG and bassline scenes, celebrates 25 years in the music industry with a hometown day rave at Birmingham’s LAB11 on Saturday 10th August 2024.
To get a proper celebration going, Hunt will be joined by many, many names in the scene including Bad Boy Chiller Crew, H Two O, Big Ang, DJ Richard, Moppa & Dekka, Shaun Dean, and more in the main arena.
Over in the Phunky Basslines arena, there's B15 Project, Shorterz, Dean Curtiz, and loads more who'll certainly shut it right down. Manchester has almost become like a second home for Moxy Muzik thanks to their frequent takeovers at venues like Joshua Brooks, and now, on the 10th of August, Darius Syrossian and co return to the city, but this time in collaboration with JBM Music to take over the sprawling industrial rave complex of Progress.
