With May bank holiday heralding in the new summer season, spirits are high, and the prospect of a long weekend away from work is hotly anticipated for many. We have put together some of our highlights for the bank Holiday weekend from all over the country, so you know where the hottest parties are, and the best places to let your hair down and really enjoy yourself.

Manchester

Sounds From The Other City @ Various Venues / Sunday 5th May

Manchesters Sounds From the Other City festival (SFTOC) is a celebration of new music and performance, uniting the cream of the national and international scene with some of the citys finest independent promoters, collectives and club nights. This year’s lineup features the likes of Daedelus, Stealing Sheep, Divorce, DJ Q and Fingathing amongst many others, in various venues around the city centre. It has become widely known as the festival to catch the next biggest bands before they break into the big time, and is well worth checking out.

Closing Parties @ Sankeys / Friday 3rd May - Monday 6th May

Manchester’s iconic club needs no introduction. After becoming one of the most well loved venues for underground music, its announcement a few weeks ago of its impending closure sent shockwaves through the world of dance music. The organizers have been hell bent on going out with a bang though, and with its closure this bank holiday, expect to see one of the biggest lineups of electronic producers and DJ ever.

Liverpool

mUmU @ 35-39 Greenland Street / Sunday 5th May

mUmU welcome Cocoon mainstay and Ricardo Villalobos partner in crime ONUR ÖZER. GARY BECK also returns after his amazing extended Halloween set last year. Being held over day & night, the day venue is a never before used outdoor Yard space kitted out with Funktion One sound, a special daytime headliner, bar, Marquee, and BBQ - all you need for a bank holiday party from 4pm-4am.

Circus presents: RebelRave @ East Village Arts Club / Sunday 5th May

Yousef’s ever impressive Circus night returns with yet another fantastic lineup including Art Department, Damian Lazarus, Eats Everything, Lewis Boardman, and Yousef himself. Circus has become widely renowned as one of the best parties in Liverpool, this May Bank Holiday is your chance to find out why!

London

Speakerbox @ Oval Space / Friday 3rd May

Established in 2009 by Radio 1 & 1Xtra’s new music master MistaJam to support and champion exciting first rate cutting edge new talent alongside more established players, Speakerbox has since grown in size and stature, and regularly hosts some of the biggest players in forward thinking dance music. This Friday's is no exception, as the night welcomes Benga, MistaJam, Kry Wolf, and Second City to its Oval Space venue.

Sheffield

De:Bug @ The Fez Club / Sunday 5th May

De:Bug celebrates its second birthday this weekend in style, announcing the addition of The Martinez Brothers, Dan Ghenacia, Crazy P, and wolf music to its impressive lineup. Promising a party with no pretence, and no agenda other than to show how proud we are, having such a great vibrant scene now in our home city of Sheffield. De:Bug’s second birthday is an unmissable event in the underground dance music scene of Sheffield.

Inverness

Brew at the Bog @ Bogbain Farm / Saturday 4th May

Brew at the Bog is a festival full of new music and new beer. Its an event about breaking rules, taking risks, upsetting trends, unsettling institutions but first and foremost, great tasting beers. Housed in the award winning Bogbain Farm Venue, this year’s brew at the bog hosts an impressive and diverse lineup including Miaoux Miaoux, Fatherson, Three Blind Wolves, Olympic Swimmers, plus a hell of alot more.

Birmingham

Below 8th Birthday @ Rainbow Warehouse / Sat 4th May

Birmingham premier Warehouse club night celebrates its 8th birthday this bank holiday by inviting some of the worlds biggest house DJs to the Rainbow Warehouse. DJ Sneak, Derrick May, Todd Terry, Inner City, and Kevin Saunderson all appear to set up one of the most tantalising prospects in the world of house music this weekend. Absolutely essential for any true house music fan.

Derby

Gatecrasher's 20th Anniversary @ Donnington Park / Sunday 5th May

One of the biggest brands ever in dance music celebrates it 20th anniversary this weekend, and is set to commemorate the event in trademark style. Artists confirmed include some of the biggest names in dance music such as Hardwell, Eddie Halliwell, Knife Party, Nicky Romero, Laidback Luke, and Steve Aoki. Billed as the UK’s biggest warehouse party, this is looking like being an event really quite special.

Preston

Prestfest @ Various Venues / Friday 3rd May - Sunday 5th

Lancashire’s pride and joy - Preston - celebrates its Bank Holiday weekend by the announcement of PrestFest. With so many establishments getting involved, from restaurants to bars, clubs to gig venues, expect generous discounts, and amazing lineups right across the city.
