Skiddle's open goal: A weekly roundup of football news and events

The big news this week is all about Cristiano Ronaldo...

The biggest football news isn't about a match but is centred around an individual at the moment. Cristiano Ronaldo has done an interview with the vile Piers Morgan and has blasted the club hierarchy and overall come out of it looking like a spoilt child throwing a tantrum.

This is all too familiar a sight for football fans who for years have seen Ronaldo act out on a football pitch. Every single time a ball isn't passed to him, a teammate is tackled or a foul goes against him a tantrum happens and arms are thrown up in the air. He is an idol to Manchester United and Real Madrid fans but to anyone else has always come across as being entirely self-centred.

In the interview, he describes not knowing who Ralf Ragnick is despite his brilliant track record, blasts Wayne Rooney for daring to criticise him and that he doesn't respect the current manager Ten Hag. It is an astonishing display of selfishness from a player who has rarely ever acted with a sense of class.

He says that he wants the best for the club whilst simultaneously elevating himself above all other aspects of it. It isn't as if his performances have warranted a place in the starting lineup this season either as he is now far too ineffective on the football pitch. Without him, his club beat Fulham 2-1 this weekend thanks to a late winner from young winger Garnacho.

The shock of the weekend was at The Etihad as Manchester City were beaten in the dying moments by a late Ivan Toney winner to make it 2-1 to the away side. Toney only just missed out on the England squad and responded in the best way possible. It meant that an Odegaard double over Wolves later in the day would see Arsenal be top of the Premier League table at Christmas by five points.

Darwin Nunez continued his good form with a double against Southampton in a 3-1 win for Liverpool. Tottenham and Leeds played out an absolute thriller that finished 4-3 to the home side. Tottenham were their sluggish selves in the first half but were saved by two strikes in the second half from Bentancur.

Everton were left embarrassed after losing away to Bournemouth 3-0, which was their second defeat against them in a week after the South Coast side had also beaten them 4-1 in the Carabao Cup. For more footy action check out the events below.

When: Friday 25th November

Where: Burnham Park Hall, Slough

There's nothing quite like watching England going for some silverware and they'll be hoping to have a good run at the World Cup this year. Maybe they're not one of the favourites but this team lifted the nation with their performances at the Euros and hopefully can do the same again here. A win against the USA would be a step closer to the knockouts.
