Each week over the summer, we're taking a look at who could be those festival headliners that we see in the future. They may be relatively new or have an existing platform already, waiting to take that next step into stardom. This week we're focussing on producer and DJ Jayda G.

It feels as though the last few years have provided pivotal moments for Jayda G. With her name appearing on bigger and bigger stages all of the time. Originally from Canada, she relocated to London where she is currently based. Rising up through the ranks of the underground dance music scene, she has made a name for herself using a blend of Chicago House and funk.

One of the key moments of Jayda's career so far came in 2017 when she was invited to play a Boiler Room set at Dekmantel. A high-energy performance that was filled with joy and even some nice moves from Jayda herself, it set a precedent for what to expect from her shows in the future.

To really stand out when you're at the decks, you have to have personality and a clear love for what you do, it quickly gets any room or festival crowd on your side. Jayda G has that in abundance and a selection of tracks to back herself up. Her live shows have seen her take to the stage at Glastonbury, Melt!, the Warehouse Project and plenty of other musical landmarks.

Alongside her musical endeavours, she has also had time to complete a Master's degree in environmental toxicology, which coincided with the recording of her debut album. It was titled Significant Changes and was released in 2019 via Ninja Tune. The sounds from her academic work bleed into her music, as you'll even hear a sample of an orca.

An outstanding first piece of work, it launched her into even greater things. In 2021 she found herself nominated for a GRAMMY in the category 'best dance recording' for her track Both of Us. It's a key example that from production to vocals, to live performance, Jayda G can do it all.

We think that she has what it takes to go all the way and be a headliner. In a relatively short amount of time, she has gone from unknown to the GRAMMY's and her trajectory can only keep on climbing. It's rare that we see such a switched-on mind who can deliver hit after hit.

We hope to catch Jayda G as a festival soon and if she sounds like the kind of artist that you'd enjoy then you can see what she's up to this summer here
