Each week over the Summer we're looking ahead to the future and picking some of the names that we think may be headlining some of the very best festivals across the world. So whilst we all look for the headliners, take time to look further down the bill too, as those names will one day be at the very top.

This week we're highlighting Little Simz, an award-winning talent who is due for even bigger successes. Simz has been releasing music since at least as early as 2010 and already has 6 albums/mixtapes under her belt, which may make you think that she's hardly one for the future if she has been around so long. But, this is more of a testament to how ridiculous it is that her earlier songs weren't fully appreciated.

She's an artist who has had to grind and hone her craft in order to get to where she is today. The Londoner may have had to wait a long time but the last four years have seen her platform grow exponentially. Known for mixing an unrelenting flow with socially-conscious lyrics, her talent for expressing so much through her lyricism is scarcely matched in UK rap/ hip-hop.

Her 2019 album GREY Area was a resounding success, finally introducing Simz to a wider audience and giving her plenty of critical acclaim on the way. in fact, in the last few years, Simz has had 4 BRIT nominations, has been nominated for the Mercury Prize and was the first woman to sell out three nights at Brixton Academy.

Everything changed yet again in 2021 with the release of her album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, which elevated her to a name known around the world. Accepted by many to be one of the best albums of the year, it featured stunning production where each note feels precisely placed to make you feel something.

She has made appearances at plenty of festivals already, having taken to the stage at Glastonbury, Primavera Sound and many more places. We think that she isn't far away at all from becoming a festival headliner. Her dedication to her craft is something that anyone can appreciate.

When she takes to the stage at her live shows she has the crowd in the palm of her hand moving to her groove, with them all chanting the lyrics straight back to her. Sometimes things come to those who wait and the rise of Little Simz has been a long time coming, long may she continue to ascend.
