Snickers Bowl @ Download FESTIVAL!!!!

Marking the day that Download are releasing individual day tickets, the festival organisers have now confirmed a welcome return of the SNICKERS Bowl Stage, which joins the Main Stage, SNICKERS Stage and Gibson/MySpace.com Stage at Donington Park on 9, 10 and 11 June. Gay for Johnny Depp, Sintuition, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Get Amped, Streetlight Youth, Viking Skull, Betty Curse and Evergrey will play the SNICKERS Bowl Stage across the three days, treating Download punters to the best of emerging new rock talent.

As an official sponsor, SNICKERS is bringing the much-anticipated SNICKERS Bowl to Download for the third year running. The size of an Olympic swimming pool, but twice as deep, this awe-inspiring structure comes to the UK just once a year. Previously open to invited international skate and BMX pro’s only, the all new SNICKERS UK Friday gives the best of established and new UK talent the chance to ride the bowl in an invitation-only jam. Saturday and Sunday see the pro comp take centre stage as SNICKERS brings world-class stars including Rune Glifberg, Renton Millar and Koji Kraft to the bowl to compete. The skate side of things will also be judged by ‘godfather’ of skate and star of cult documentary ‘Dogtown and the Z-boys’, Tony Alva. After his Sunday Sermon at Download 2005, the inimitable Henry Rollins is set to make an appearance on the SNICKERS Stage on Saturday 10 June. His awe-inspiring spoken word performance, punctuated by self-deprecating humour, is somewhat legendary and fans will be looking forward to attending his latest delivery.

More bands have also now been added to the Main Stage and the Gibson/ My Space.com Stage and will be looking forward to playing, some for the first time, to the crowds at Donington Park. Manchester trio Amplifier will be proving why they have received so much acclaim across the rock press with their ambitious and powerful blend of 70s rock and explosive post-rock sounds as they open the Main Stage on the Friday. Abrasive metallers Soil are to join them on the Friday with their own brand of furious hard rock which has led to tours with Sevendust and work with Pantera/Rob Zombie producer Ulrich Wild. Also on the Main Stage, but on the Sunday, are Gibralter’s rock experimentalists Breed 77. Combining Spanish flamenco, North African rhythms with melodic hard rock has won them many fans on these shores.

Joining the action on the Gibson/MySpace.com Stage, which already has Ginger & The Sonic Circus, Killing Joke and Sick Of It All headlining across the three days are Bullets and Octane, Animal Alpha and Enter Shikari (Friday). Saturday heralds sets from Louie and It Dies Today and Sunday now boasts Darkest Hour.

A competition has now been launched on Download’s official website, www.downloadfestival.co.uk, offering the ultimate Download rock experience. By ‘Unleashing the Beast’ one lucky winner will win £1000, plus Download VIP weekend tickets and a selection of other goodies. All ‘Unleash The Beast’ is asking, is that the Download Dog gets into the most creative and imaginative situation possible! This could be through placing an image of the Dog behind a live TV broadcast, having you and a bunch of mates wearing the Dog masks in Turkey on holiday, or going the whole hog and getting dressed up as the Dog and getting caught by the paparazzi! The biggest event on the UK rock calendar – the Download festival – celebrates its fourth year in 2006 with the most outstanding line-up to date including headline performances from Tool, Metallica and Guns N’ Roses on 9, 10 and 11 June respectively.

With such an outstanding line-up, and impeccable reputation for quality, weekend tickets for this year’s festival have sold faster than ever before. Campsite spaces are only available with weekend tickets and the very last of these are now on sale with less than 3,000 campsite spaces still available. Book now to avoid disappointment.

Announced last week were a series of official Download pre-festival Club Nights. The Download Festival has exclusively teamed up with specific clubs around the UK and at each night will offer one special prize of a pair of full weekend tickets to the festival including entrance to the guest’s hospitality area. Other prizes available will be T—shirts courtesy of Attitude Clothing and a range of CD’s, posters, stickers and badges provided by bands performing at this year’s event. The remaining nights are:
