You might have heard us say this once or twice before, but it’s an exciting time in clubland at this point of year. Longer nights mean more time spent in darkened clubs, and as a consequence there’s always a plethora of exciting news involving clubs old and new as September swings by. And in a city reared on acid house, Manchester proves no exception.
This autumn Solar will be launching in the city’s den of electronic exploration Gorilla, the culmination of a number of the city’s musical minds. Starting monthly from Saturday 28th September, the event will be focusing on the best in international and local talent, four events kicking off on the final Saturday of every month with stellar talent from internationally renowned stables Cadenza, Coccon, Desolat and Cecille.
The opening party sees them flying in Martin Buttrich, the legendary producer infamous for his work with both Loco Dice and Timo Maas as well as a solo career that seen him ignite labels like Four:twenty and Planet E over the past decade. Whether crafting sleek Detroit inspired techno like his immortal ‘Full Clip’ (above) or touring the globe with meticulous DJ sets that explore the full gamut of electronic exploration, Buttrich remains a huge draw and provides a scintillating statement of intent for where Solar aim to take their brand.
The intensity doesn’t relent either, with the next three dates also announced. October sees Robert Dietz at the helm, November both Monika Kruse and Sam Russo before Jef K heads up the December party alongside the club’s residents. Tickets are on sale now, and we’ll be peering further into the mechanics behind this exciting new electronic enterprise in the upcoming weeks.
