Manchester has had a long and glorious love affair with drum n bass, with the sound being championed in the city's confines from the outset. Soul:ution has been one of the parties to really give the drum n bass scene a home in Manchester, with regular appearances also coming at Fabric in London.
Returning once again to Band On The Wall on Sunday August 24th, Sou:ution welcomes a storming selection of drum n bass producers that have been honing their own styles within the genre, instrumental in pushing the sounds of the higher tempos in exciting new directions.
Top of the bill comes Calibre, a man responsible for some of the most stunning drum n bass records to have ever been pressed. For well over 15 years, Dominick Martin has been drawing on genres like jazz, dub, breakbeat, deep house and even techno to create a sound that is stripped back, high quality floor fodder whilst remaining obscenely bass heavy and very, very deep (witness some of that in 'Plugs' above).
His sets at venues like Fabric showcase his varied approach and his downright passion for his craft beautifully, that is if you're lucky enough to catch him. He is far from a prolific DJ, preferring to spend his time in the studio rather than on the road, which makes his set for Soul:ution even more unmissable for discerning d n b heads.
Joining him will be Soul:r boss man and veteran of the Manchester scene Marcus Intalex, whose energetic, forward thinking, soulful sound has become one of the most eagerly sought after in drum n bass circles. Elsewhere Soul:ution mainstay Bane gets involved, as does Galvini and Antagonist who will go back to back, joined by SP:MC. Grab your Soul:ution tickets here.
