Sounds From The Other City announce first wave of acts for 2023
The festival will take place in and around Salford's Chapel Street, on Bank Holiday Sunday, 30th April.
Date published: 26th Jan 2023
Salford's new-music festival, Sounds From The Other City, has dropped its first announcement of artists, promoters and afterparties today, offering a first taste of the new discoveries awaiting you on Bank Holiday Sunday 30th April.
The festival is an annual celebration of new music, from across many a genre, and treats local Salfordians to an array of incredible talent, that is bound to leave a few Spotify playlists replenished with new tunes.
The emerging music & art discoveries on offer include the dark experimental sounds of CURRENTMOODGIRL, French psych-pop Hello Maud, who will play in the gorgeous surroundings of St Philip’s Church; Gracie T, fresh from her boiler room set, bringing all the bangers to the back room of The New Oxford pub; head down the road to Islington Mill for Arch Femmesis serving up fast-paced, electronic, punk dance; or take it easy in the sumptuous surroundings of Porta with garage slow jamz from a Manchester power crew of Katbrownsugar, P-Ro, Jenna G and more.
Elsewhere you will find even more awesome acts, like the rising post-rock cool kids Honeyglaze, performing in St Philips Church (a must-see in our opinion, especially with the venue), and Wigan’s favourite boyband, Brown Brogues, who will be supplying the northern vibes at The Old Pint Pot, for what they say will be one last outing at their favourite festival.
Also, if you want to embrace some weirdness, you can see the indescribable ecolagbohrsac2021. Musically even we don't know what to expect. Draconic mediaeval EDM, crystal swampcore, deep-fried Digital Middle Age hyperblackmetalpop, magick Lamborghini ride-core, 3D glitter pandemonium? Yep, it could be any or all, and you have to see it to believe it.
Sounds From The Other City, is the biggest celebration of new music on offer in Salford, it's an annual celebration full of incredible music, in some of the very best venues Salford has to offer, and with a lineup like this, you just have to be there.
Tickets for Sounds From The Other City are out now, and available at the bottom of this page.
