Psychedelic pioneers and inventors of the space rock genre Hawkwind are headed out on a UK tour in support of their latest album, Into the Woods. The highly significant band have been named as influences to the likes of Ty Segall, Henry Rollins of Black Flag and the Sex Pistols - the latter of which covered their infamous number two 1972 single 'Silver Machine'.

The genre of space rock went on to develop a new and much-celebrated category of bands, Gong and Ozric Tentacles to name but a few. Elements of the slow, lengthy and often tension-building instrumental passages largely dominated by electronics such as synthesisers and shoegazey style guitar can be heard in newer bands such as Kasabian, Swans and Muse.
With over 25 studio albums of unique prog rock being released since their creation in 1969, Hawkwind are arguably one of the most consistent bands of their calibre. Their latest release, expected on 5th May, promises tracks of their classic indistinguishable sound and the live versions of which, as well as songs from their huge list of previous releases, you can hear on the dates listed below.
