First things first, what is TEK NOIR?
TEK NOIR is a brand that originated in Nottingham, UK. Our message is simple? we wanted to be known for representing a distinction within the saturated market; as well as for throwing the naughtiest underground raves that Nottingham has to offer. Its sole focus is on exclusivity, and showcases the most exclusive Deep-Tech, Tech-House and Techno beats.
Who is behind TEK NOIR & what is your history in Music?
TEK NOIR is built of a team of four: Sam Rose (Kosey), Matthew Eddison (MEDDS), Charlie Cole (Charcole) and Thomas Finch. Combined, we have over 7 years experience in the music industry, either in management, promotion or live performance. Our team has travelled the country, rightfully securing residencies in cities such as London, Manchester and Liverpool. Along the way, we have managed to claim prime time slots in clubs such as Sankeys, Lightbox and Stealth, never failing to tear the place apart!
Serious stuff out the way, we are a team built from first hand raving experience. There is not one of us who does not share the same passion for underground electronic music, or can say that they haven?t occasionally found themselves in a serious pickle over the years haha.
How has TEK NOIR become such an established brand?
I think this has got to be down to the fact that we have never gone in to an event with the mind-set of making money. In my opinion, that is where so many brands go wrong. Instead of choosing headliners solely on the basis of drawing a crowd, we simply choose the ones that we would love to see perform. We have very specific requirements when it comes to looking for headlining acts. I think that is the reason for why both events have drawn in such an incredible crowd. Everyone was there for one thing? the music.
Who are you looking to reach out to?
We are looking to reach out to the people who have had enough of the generic scene; the ones who want to experience a proper rave on their Friday nights. Judging from our first two events, we are managing to do this. The vibes in that basement have been unreal!
What are your future plans and goals for TEK NOIR?
At the moment, we have many plans for taking the brand forward, many of which involve expansion; other major cities need to hear our vibe!!! Nevertheless, I think it is vital that we do not try to do this too fast, and that we keep our feet firmly on the ground. It is a cutthroat industry out there! I think the key thing is to maintain the belief in our visions, and to keep providing the unique sound that we have made our own. Who knows what we can achieve if we manage to do that? Saying all this, we will always see Nottingham as our home, and will never stop throwing events there. You lot have been great to us, and for that we are extremely grateful.
Although we do want to expand, we will never forget where we came from, and will never represent something that we do not believe in. From what I can see, the UK underground scene is dying. We will always be fighting to keep it alive.
The last TEK NOIR night you ventured to Nottingham with a sell out venue & rapidly up and coming DJ Patrick Topping headlining, can you give us a sneak peak into what you have got planned for the next night?
Haha, you must know that we aren?t going to tell you that fellas! But one thing?s for certain? our next booking is definitely going to turn some heads. What I can tell you is that we are planning to pack that basement out with extra speakers, get a proper rig in there! We want that sound to be vibrating straight through you. Some of you may want to invest in some ear plugs haha.
