Listen to our Doctor's Order's playlist as they prepare to celebrate forty years of hip hop.

That lovely genre of music hip-hop has turned 40. I'ts four decades since a fella called Kool Herc thought it be a good idea to play the 40 second 'breaks' on funk records over and over again in loops, sending his dancers at the New York block parties into raptures and kick-starting a revolution. Gun controversies, endless feuds, inspirational assaults on political injustices and easily some of the greatest music ever known to man; it's had the lot.
The Doctor's Order's have been delivering the kind of jaw-dropping hip-hop reared spectacles that show love to the full panoramic beauty of the genre for a hot minute now, and have justifiably delivered on a celebration chartering those forty years. Headlining and repping the past of the music is Afrika Bambaataa, with new school emcee Black milk, turntablist Rob Swift, re-edit Maestro Tall Black Guy and more.
We've put a little playlist together to showcase the night, with music from the guests which you can stream above on Spotify including Bambaataa's classic 'Planet Rock', Black Milk's collaborations with the likes of Royce da 5'9 and Danny Brown, scratch tracks from Rob swift and the jazz infused grooves of Tall Black Guy. Enjoy the sound of The Doctor's Order's ode to the music they love.
