One of the fastest growing and burgeoning festivals in the UK this year, Standon Calling Festival have just announced another very groovey wave of artists for this years space.

After a relentless touring schedule, a hook up with super producer Mark Ronson and a criticailly acclaimed 2007 debut with 'Girls and Weather', The Rumble Strips make a welcome return, previewing new material from their forthcoming second album 'Welcome to The Walk Alone' at this year's Standon Calling festival. It seems like a space age ago since The Rumble Strips first burst onto the music scene, when their debut track 'Motorcycle' did the rounds in the Charts and across the internet in 2005. After the huge repsonse of the first album, it comes as no suprise that the band have become a household name in the UK indie scene, and a quintessential, recognisable British favourtite - the festival welcomes these jaunty, 60's rock-soul scallies back with open arms.

Also just confirmed for this years Standon-blowout is burgeoning UK soul star VV BROWN. The Los Angeles Times and The Independent have both named Brown an artist to watch in 2009. Simple, structured songwriting, stylish and thoughtful lyrics and a killer image have all helped VV launch her career, with latest single Shark In The Water helping to grow her rapidly-increasing fanbase even larger. An album is due soon from this new darling of the UK and International press - catch her now, this year at Standon Calling!
Other fantastic acts just announced are Kap Bambino, When Saints Go Machine, Fanfarlo, Dead Kids, Invasion, Mothlite, Richard James, Portasound, Modernaire,  Downtown Wolves and Jonny Woo Gay Bingo.

Cosmic Astronaut DJ's will include the likes of Dave Haslam, Riotous Rockers, Dan Beaumont Of Disco Bloodbath, Eddy Temple-Morris (The Remix) and 65 Days of Static DJs. Heading up this space cadet troupe will be Greg Wilson on the Dollop stage. Famed for his eclectic selection, disco tendencies and seamless mixing, Greg will wow and charm you as you undertake a magic trip to spaceland. Also keen to show some skill on the wheels is Jagz Kooner, fresh from producing the new Reverend and the Makers album. Another great acheivement under the belt of this hard working wizard, who has also remixed and produced Radio 4, Primal Scream, Oasis and was also one half of the seminal dance act The Sabres of Paradise.

And elsewhere Standon Calling presents: Intergalactic dressing up competition, Stranger Than Paradise’s CCCP Cosmonaut Training Centre, Hot air ballooning, Rockaoke, Book Club Boutique tipi, Skandalous! presents: Intergalactic Red Light District, Underwater Disco, Beach Hut Karaoke, Heritage Arts’ Heliocentre live theatre experience, Extra-terrestrial experts from CERN, Astrological Blind Date with alien Cilla plus a host of futuristic festival shenanigans.

Alongside this, Standon have also revealed details for a special SUNDAY ONLY ticket for just £35. The Sunday line up is a three-day festival line-up in itself, featuring afrobeat legend Femi Kuti, man of steel Tony Christie and Easy Star All Stars who will be touring their new album. And that's only the start of what will be an amazing finale to Standon Calling 2009 - it will go out with a bang!

With the site set in rolling countryside only 35 minutes from London, Standon Calling is easily accessible by train, car or coach and is the musical picnic you and your friends have been waiting for.
