Indie art rockers Sundara Karma and UK rap sensation Stefflon Don have been revealed as the headliners of War Child's upcoming charity shows at EartH in Hackney.
Following last year's inaugural Safe & Sound fundraising gigs featuring Mercury Prize-nominated band Everything Everything, Tom Misch and Jon Hopkins, War Child have this year partnered with Skiddle to bring two shows to the Dalston venue this Autumn.
Fresh from selling out Brixton Academy for a second time this year and a homecoming show at Reading Festival, indie-art-rockers Sundara Karma will headline EartH on Wednesday 28 August, supported by Phoebe Green and Alfie Templeman, during a night curated by Chess Club Records & DIY.
A week later, MOBO-award winning UK rap star Stefflon Don will take over the venue, bringing her perfect blend of dancehall and hip hop after critically-acclaimed performances at Glastonbury and Wireless, and the release of latest single Phone Down.
Talking about the upcoming show, Stefflon Don said: “I feel honoured that War Child have asked me to play a show for them. No child should have to deal with the consequences of war and the thought of them doing this is alone is heart breaking. War Child is an amazing charity protecting, educating and standing up for children affected by war.”
War Child has a long-running association with the music industry dating back to 1995, when the charity released the ‘Help Album’ – a Britpop compilation that raised £1.25 million to support children caught up in the Bosnia conflict. Since then War Child has continued to work with an impressive roster of bands and musicians - including Coldplay, Muse, Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran, The Killers and Mark Ronson, to name a few.
Money raised at the shows will be used to reach children affected by war in conflict zones such as Syria, Afghanistan and Yemen. To find out more about the charity visit the War Child website here.
