Stuck for what to give this Father’s Day? Worry not, we’ve got a selection of options for you to ponder to work something a little bit more leftfield as a gift choice this time round. You wouldn’t think it but there’s plenty to do
The festival being the sole domain of the young and care-free has been blown out of the water in recent years and there’s been an increasing presence of the more vintage patron. That’s been matched by a stunning set of options that cater for an older clientele who perhaps want to eschew tents, and we’ve rounded up some of the best varieties of accommodation here.
No 6 Festival in North Wales in September is a good one for the father who fancies himself as a bit of connoisseur, the shindig one of the finest examples of a boutique festival upon these shores. The Junction Weekender has those bastions of dad rock Status Quo amongst its stars in early August. And the Wickerman Festival has that perfect juxtaposition of musical variety and family friendly fun, so if you need to consider younger siblings it doesn’t get much better than this.
Head to our Festival Finder to find the perfect father friendly festival.
Really. Not everyone’s old man is stuck in the dark ages and the fact that dance music is older than most of the people that read this site means there’s plenty of dads who were there first time round. If you’ve had to endure the stories about that hallowed period in time you’ll know all too well, but there’s every chance they’ve kept quiet over the years. Particularly if they were here. But there’s a few options that will certainly bring back those misty eyed years.
Horsemeat Disco, this Saturday at 2022NQ in Manchester, is a great example, their focus on early house music and disco the perfect choice for a man with a savvy awareness of the history of dance music. Or one who just loves feel-good music. The Hacienda Reunion at the end of the month in London's Coronet Theatre is also perfect for those wanting to re-live their youth.
Okay we admit this isn’t a startlingly original option but it’s a cliché for a reason. Like the above, the best part of this present is you can do it with him, and we all know that quality time is a big a consideration as any to add to a father’s day present. And what better way than to treating him to slap up grub?
Our restaurant finder has plenty of options for you to book in, but we were also pleasantly surprised by the transformation of what was once the Bar in the Masque to a restaurant space, now the Liverpool venue has become the East Village Arts Club. Read our review here, and if you’re local to the North West city, we certainly suggest you check it out.
You can catch a round-up of everything Father's Day based here. Whatever you plump for we’re sure he’ll love it. And if he doesn’t? Well, there’s always next year.
