Super8 & Tab: "We've Lots of New Productions Cooking"

Congratulations on your debut release on Enhanced Recordings, 'Teardrops', which is out now at Beatport! Can you tell us a little bit about the track and what inspired you to make it?

Every time we visit the music store we end up playing with their Grand Piano which we did this time too. We wrote main melody in the store and we recorded our ideas on our iPhones so we could remember it later. That melody worked as the centrepiece for the song when we went back to studio.

Can you explain the meaning behind the name, 'Teardrops?'

It was actually Tab who said in the store that the piano melody sounds a bit like teardrops. And if you use your imagination a little bit it actually does.

The track has had loads of support from the biggest names in Trance, including Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten and many more. It has also been featured on A State Of Trance 2013! How do you feel?

We're really happy that it has got a great response from the big names. We tried to combine that old mellow trance feeling with modern production and it would appear that people are liking it.

Which artists are you currently supporting and why?

Juventa, Ost & Meyer, 7skies, Audien, Oliver Smith and Maor Levi to name a few, simply because they've been making some great music lately.

For those who haven't heard it, can you tell us a bit about your show, SuperTab Radio?

It's pretty straight forward. SuperTab Radio is a bi-monthly show where we play all our current favourite tracks. So if you want to know what Super8 & Tab sounds we like, check out our show.

For all the production nerds out there, what is your favourite piece of software / hardware studio gear and why?

At the moment it seems we are using Sylenth and Zebra a lot, but it seems we are not alone really. Those are the workhorse synths of 2013. We also use a lot of soundpacks for inspiration and as a starting point for our own sounds. If you don't already know about 'Freshly Squeezed Samples' we highly recommend checking out their products.

What do Super8 & Tab have in store for 2013? Can we expect more originals and remixes?

Yes there's lots of new productions cooking and release ready tracks on our laptops.

What other music that isn't trance are you listening to at the moment?

Currently we're listening quite a lot French Electro, Tech House, Radiohead. Forthcoming Daft Punk sounds quite interesting too. Can't wait to hear what those masterminds have done.

Before we let you go, what is your favourite all time Trance classic?

There are so many, but we'll have to go with 'William Orbit - Barber’s Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix)
