GOOD VIBRATIONS
Iconic legends Brian Wilson and The Skids Confirm Today

Festival organisers Big Day Out and founding partners Tennent’s Lager are delighted to announce the confirmation of international legend Brian Wilson and the reformation of Scottish art-punk legends The Skids, who together comprise today’s exciting artist announcements for the event which this year takes place from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th July 2007.

It is a huge coup for T in the Park to have secured Brian Wilson, world recognised as nothing short of a musical legend, and a massive influence to many of the acts that have played the event over its fourteen year history. Wilson, who will close Saturday’s Pet Sounds Arena, named of course after the Beach Boys seminal album, is one of music’s most deeply revered figures. A renowned writer, producer and arranger Wilson is the performer of some of the most cherished music in history.

Despite personal and professional setback, Wilson has overcome numerous obstacles to experience one of pop’s most enduring careers. The epic ‘SMilE’ project initiated in the late 60’s was finally released in 2004, and although the album had previously reached mythic proportions with fans of both the Beach Boys and Wilson’s solo work, his new millennia release has brought his classic talents to a whole new generation of music fans, all of whom will be enthralled by this rare opportunity to catch a true master at work.

One of Scotland’s most influential acts The Skids will reform this summer to play the festival in celebration of their thirtieth anniversary, and lucky T in the Parkers will be able to catch the band in what is a further stunning festival announcement. Having formed in 1977, in Dunfermline (not a million miles away from T in the Park’s spiritual home Balado), the band scored four hit albums including ‘Scared To Dance’ and ‘The Absolute Game’ before finally disbanding in 1981.

The band have recently enjoyed a resurgence in popularity after U2 collaborated with Green Day to cover the classic ‘The Saints Are Coming’. As The Edge aptly quotes ‘great work never dies, it only goes to sleep for a while.’ Catch The Skids, who for this date line-up as Richard Jobson, Bill Simpson, Mike Baillie and Bruce Watson (latterly of Big Country fame) will show no signs of slumber when they play this exclusive Main Stage set at T in the Park on Sunday 8th July.

Today’s announcements highlight just two further spectacular sets, absolutely not to be missed at this year’s T in the Park with many more fantastic artists will be announced in forthcoming weeks. To stay fully up-to-date register at www.tinthepark.com

As always, T in the Park strongly advises fans not to buy tickets from any unofficial sources or website auctions, as not only will the have to pay over the odds but there is a high chance that the ticket will not exist or will be a fake.
