Some tracks are so definitive they deserve spotlighted praise, so that's what we've delivered for this week's Techno Tuesday. Released in 1995, 'Higher State of Conciousness' became Josh Wink's most recognisable slab of electronic goodness.
The track (listen to the original below) was picked up for an abundance of remixes including one by Dirty South and Dex and Jonesy which charted. The original peaked at number eight in the UK singles, highlighting the track's wider reach beyond the dancefloor.
The acid infused, epic building masterpiece has dated remarkably well, and still sounds as fresh in a set as it did back in the nineties. Although Wink has cited the track as his biggest regret, undoubtedly due to the humongous success it garnered, the track is iconic and is one of our all time favourites.
Although Josh Wink had released a string of quality underground tracks prior, it was 'Higher State of Consciousness' which catapulted his trippy break beat style to the masses. Fancy seeing him live? You can catch Josh Wink at the Williamson Tunnels in Liverpool for 303 this weekend.
