Hey there, podcast lovers! Are you tired of using podcasts to dive into the dark and disturbing world of true crime or getting lost in heated political debates? Well, sometimes all we need is a good old-fashioned laugh to make everything better. And that's where the glorious world of comedy podcasts comes in!

The UK comedy scene is so great that we almost feel sorry for the rest of the world (almost). But seriously, if you're not already in on the secret, some of the biggest names in comedy spend hours each week chatting utter nonsense and making us chuckle.

Take "Have A Word" for example. These northern lads take on big topics and break them down into the silliest, most absurd discussions imaginable. And they're not alone - they've managed to wrangle in some of the biggest names in comedy to join in with the ludicrousy; Then there's "Off Menu" where James Acaster and Ed Gamble, two of the biggest names in UK comedy, invite celebrities to choose their favourite meal courses. But this isn't just about food - these chats often turn into wild and wacky stories that will have you in stitches; And don't forget "Sh**ged Married Annoyed" where Chris and Rosie Ramsey talk about life, love, and everything in between, bringing in guests to share their own hilarious stories and grievances, making for some seriously entertaining listening.

So why not take a break from all the seriousness and check out some of the hilarity that ensues on these podcasts? Trust us, your funny bone will thank you.

Have A Word

Hosted by: Adam Rowe & Dan Nightingale

Wag wag lids, where do we start with this titan of a podcast? From humble beginnings in a cupboard in Runcorn to selling out Liverpool arena with their live shows, the story of Have A Word is legend in the UK comedy podcasting scene, and they have set the bar that so many have tried to reach since.

Hosted by scouse hero, Adam Rowe, and one of the most underrated comedians to ever grace the game, Dan Nightingale, alongside their producer Sensi Carl (who is so funny it's hard to believe he isn’t a seasoned circuit comic like the other two), and Co-producer Finn who provides a youthful backbone to the absurdity that often ensues.

Such absurdity comes in a variety of forms. Whether it’s an answer to a simple Would You Rather turn into a topic-spanning display of dizzying nonsense that finishes so far from the original point the question may as well not have been asked; visceral arguments coming from everyone trying to one-up each other, resulting in some downright hilarious content; or when they delve deep into all the weird and wonderful anecdotes their revolving door on incredible guests come armed with. There’s one throughline through all of this, it’s all absolute fire that’ll leave you in tears.

If you haven't given this pod a listen yet, now is the time. Just be wary about doing so in public, people will think you’re a weirdo the amount you’ll be laughing out loud to yourself.

Hot Water Green Room Podcast

Hosted by: Tony Carrol & Jamie Hutchinson

Far from the most popular podcast on this list, but albeit one that has never failed to make us go searching for a new pair of trousers, the Hot Water Green Room podcast, hosted by Tony Carroll and Jamie Hutchinson, is a masterclass in northern drivel.

The two hosts welcome a revolving door of comedic talent into the grounds of Hot Water in Liverpool, one of the country's very best comedy clubs, and proceed for an hour or so to attempt interviews of their guests; before the inevitable off-topic ramble (usually from Jamie) that leads into a cacophonous pile of absurd hilarity; usually, thanks to the endless stream of bonkers stories the pair have between them. A lot of the time, the guests just end up in complete shock at what they're being told, and their reactions are incredible.

It’s oh so stupid, but oh so bloody brilliant and never fails to put a big grin on our faces. If you want your podcasts to be like you and your pals pissed up in a shabby pub chatting utter crap, then boy have we found the podcast for you. Get listening to the Hot Water Green Room podcast as soon as possible, it's one of the true hidden gems of the UK Comedy Podcast scene.
