Loopallu has announced the first of its headliners for the 2010 ‘Little Fest in the West’, in the shape of one of the UK’s favourite feel good acts The Magic Numbers.

The Magic Numbers, comprising of two pairs of brother and sisters, released their critically acclaimed self-titled album in June 2005, which also received a nomination for the much coveted Mercury Music Prize of the same year. Their third studio album The Runaway was released earlier this year and shows the band going down a darker route, though still full of the same melodic sing-along hooks they have become known for.

A feminine touch is also added to the bill in the form of two of the most exciting rising stars of the furture. First up Universal-Island signing Clare Maguire who set the music industry ablaze with everyone from Rick Rubin, Jay-Z and most of the music industry scrabbling to sign her up. Joining her is 18 year Carly Connor from Easterhouse in Glasgow who recently signed to Atlantic Records and is set to release her debut album in 2011.

Robert Hicks (Festival Director) “We're over the moon to have The Magic Numbers come and play Loopallu, and continue what has been a great relationship with the band and the Highlands over the years. They're going to provide the perfect finale to this years festival. We're also very excited to have added two young ladies destined for stardom in the form of Clare McGuire and Carly Connor. Just remember where you saw them first!"

Other acts already announced include, an overdue appearance from Scottish indie heroes Idlewild, Turin Brakes making their first ever Highland Festival appearance, wonderful alternative pop from Aberfeldy, Mt Desolation featuring Tim Rice-Oxley and Jesse Quin (who are better known in their roles with Keane), BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards ‘Best Live Act’ (2010) nominee Adrian Edmondson and the Bad Shepherds, local favourites The Vatersay Boys, rising traditional music stars Skerryvore and the new project from Johnny ‘Pictish Trail’ Lynch and Adem Ilhan (Fridge) Silver Columns.

Situated in the pretty fishing village of Ullapool, on the shores of Loch Broom in the North West Highlands, Loopallu is a weekend for all. Fantastic local food and drink aplenty along with the now legendary late night fringe throughout the village, which last year included impromptu performances from the likes of Mumford and Sons, promises to make Loopallu yet again the perfect way to finish your festival season.
