It’s quite a month for the capital in November. Well, in London every month is ‘quite the month’, but you can see what I’m getting at here. We welcome the debut of LEAF, ‘London’s Electronic Arts Festival’ created by Rob Da Bank and Ben Turner. Alongside performances from Diplo and a relatively new producer called Giorgio Moroder (swoon), the lineup also welcomes Duke Dumont to Circus Space on Thursday 7th November. U NEED to be here (100%).
One does not simply earn the title ‘The Messiah of House’. I mean, it’s not something that people call me but then again I haven’t released 14 albums alongside creating my own record label, so it’s understandable (at present at least). Anyway, I am of course talking about Osunlade, who will be playing for The Native Soul at Electric Brixton on November 9th alongside the incredibly talented Rocco.
Not partied out yet? Good, as recent Julio Bashmore affiliate Funkineven has teamed up with Mr Wonderful to welcome Greg Beato to east London. Performing on November 16th alongside Bahamian Moor at Hackney Wick, this is going to be something special.
For what will be their first venture into the world of London’s nightlife, Art of the Muse kick things off with a debut from Tale of Us on November 23rd at Bethnal Green’s Oval Space. It’s the first time they’ve been at the helm behind the decks for a whole night in the capital, and is being described as ‘an experience of raw and relentless audio-visual excellence. I like that description.
Foto Recordings founder OOFT! will touch base this month following esteemed releases through Wolf Music and Instruments of Rapture. Bringing with them their signature disco infused house, one will be expected to get down with ones bad self on November 22nd at Brixton Jamm.
Now the term ‘pioneer’ is dished out regularly, most often by me but I’m working on correcting that. However, it’s not everyday that I get the chance to talk about Marshall Jefferson. Alongside having the greatest name in house music ever, he also pioneered the sound we dance (NOT shuffle) to today. Spread over five rooms with each area playing a different era of music, this is going to be incredibly special. Saturday 30th November. Fire. Calendar it. NOW.
For Bugged Out!’s 19th birthday celebrations it’s ladies night. However don’t think that it will be littered with groups of middle aged women on hen nights covered in L plates and regret, this isn’t THAT kind of ladies night. To mark this milestone Maya Jane Coles, Heidi, Miss Kittin and Blond:Ish will grace the decks, again in Fire, on November 23rd.
On the same evening XOYO take a night away from their Shoreditch place of residency and head to the Coronet Theatre for a night of disco for XOYO Loves on November 23rd. Featuring a live performance from Crazy P, alongside Norway’s cosmic hero Lindstrom, Aeroplane, Greg Wilson and Yuksek, expect to be taken on a journey through disco old and nu.
As house dominates the airwaves and the dancefloors it’s difficult to think of a person who has done more for the genre in recent years than Lee Foss (check his boiler room theatrics below). With Hot Creations he has singlehandedly nurtured the careers of acts like Danny Daze, wAFF and Infinity Ink with his partner in crime Jamie Jones.
As a part of Hot Natured they have taken their brand across the globe, from Ibiza to Miami, with their ‘Paradise’ club night. And as a solo artist he will headline Egg alongside Russ Yallop and Martin Ikin on Friday 22nd November.
