Birmingham band The Nightingales join Manchester new wavers the Blue Orchids for a gig in Liverpool's Magnet. Offering an alternative to the new romantic genre that dominated the era, the Blue Orchids' 80s post-punk sound incorporated elements of psychedelia and spoken word style vocals to create their original brand of defiant music.
Formed by one of the many former members of The Fall, lead singer Martin Bramah leads the band with his artistic direction of innovative and inventive songwriting, combining it with his unique style of guitar playing. Having toured with the likes of icon and legend Nico, the band have now released their latest album, The Once and Future Thing. Bramah continues to certify his spot as one of the most prolific musicians of the genre.

Following the disbandment of The Prefects, a band who took the support slot in the seminal White Riot tour of punk band The Clash, members reformed to create The Nightingales. Still embodying their punk ethos, the band continue to create punching guitar rhythms and somewhat sinister vocals to this day. They've recently released a six-song mini album, Become not Becoming earlier this year, proving that they're still as hot as the day they started.
