Kicking things off for The Playground's LMNTL will be staggering selection of up and coming chillwave pioneers. Topping the bill will be San Francisco native and MPC pad provocateur Giraffage.
Fresh from touring with the likes of Yung Lean and XXYYXX, Giraffage and his finely honed live sets, chocked with 'glitchy segments of bedroom dream-pop that ornately merge together, layering various samples, sundry instrumentation and clean percussion' has become a name on the lips of those in the know. His last longplayer 'Needs' catapulted him to the forefront of the Chillwave scene, drawing critical plaudits from right across the spectrum.
He will be joined by ever evolving Canadian Frazer Valley, AKA Teen Daze. With his sound sitting somewhere in between electronica, acoustic and nu disco, his bright, colourful synth laden workouts have continued to impress, with his live shows only furthering to cement his increasing significance.
Greek chillwave duo Keep Shelly in Athens are also called in for LMNTL. Combining 80s sensibilities with shuffling disco beats and melodies that are both haunting and soothing at once, their ingenious mastery of synthwork, atmospherics and pop hooks has resulted in their first EP 'In Love With Dusk' (above) being a worldwide sell out, bolstered by powerful live shows everywhere from Amsterdam to Berlin, New York to Dublin.
British trap and r&b maestro Daktyl, London duo T.W.i.N.S and Subscope round off a hugely impressive opening night for The Playground's LMNTL show.
