For many, The Rainbow Venues stands as a flagship destination for electronic music, however their ethos extends far beyond that, as they set out to broaden the minds of gig goers from across the spectrum. They advocate that spirit with a sequence of live music events over the coming months across the Birmingham inner city commune.
Arguably the pick of the crop, signalling the immense talent on show is the tying down of contemporary rap artist Kate Tempest, she lands on Wednesday 11th February. Her poetic insertion into the dense rap bubble has been quite astounding, with her straight talking lyrics bound by a vivacious aesthetic.
Elsewhere on the roster are The Starries on Friday 23rd January, followed by ambient indie pop collective Amber Run on February 2nd and fast rising duo Dolomite Minor strumming their darkened fuzzy guitar lines, as can be heard in our Spotify playlist below, on the 6th.
Fort Hope flex their electro rock appeal on Monday 23rd before passing the baton to urban rap artist Dels on the 27th. Vessels add a post rock dynamic on Sunday 15th March, with peppy indie collective Raglans playing their cards on Monday 23rd.
A Place to Bury Strangers kick on with their shoegaze rock leanings on Tuesday 7th April, hotly tipped ensemble Superfood entertain the live space the following day, Young Kato also appear, flaunting their sunny notes on the 13th as well as Nadine Shah on the 18th.
The last of the live music dealings in April sees The Swellers come to the fore on the 21st, Skinny Lister on the 22nd, and acoustic folk pairing Zervas & Pepper on Sunday 26th. Sneaking over to Friday 1st May, John Mcullagh & The Escorts are on hand to occupy the final slot, rounding off the first wave of announcements...
