Liverpool International Music Festival have commissioned a night with artists including Talib Kweli and Aswad to lead a tribute to Gil Scott-Heron.

In tribute to Gil Scott-Heron, a group of musicians and special guests are getting together at Thursday 27th August.
Commissioned by Liverpool International Music Festival, the night will be commanded by New York rapper Talib Kweli (listen to 'Get By' above), who notably formed Black Star with Mos Def, revered reggae band Aswad, and a DJ set from BBC Radio 6's Craig Charles.
Sophia Ben Yousef are also playing on the night with guests of honour Rumal Rackley, who is Gil's son and Ndaba, the grandson of Nelson Mandela.
