Happy New Year! Christmas and the period of limbo until New Year is over, so why not look ahead for what 2024 has to offer and secure yourself some tickets to see some incredible live music? But you may be asking, who is touring, where are they playing, where can I get tickets? (on Skiddle, duh).
Well, you don't have to worry about any of that, as Skiddle is here with our January edition of the Gig List, where we scour our gig directory and pull out some of the very best gigs happening in the coming weeks and months with tickets still available.
With Independent Venue Week coming up, we have several gigs from touring bands in smaller venues to celebrate the local music scene. Where: Dreamland in Margate, Kent
American Nu-Metal icons, Limp Bizkit, are heading out on a tour of the UK, and one of the biggest dates is right here at Dreamland in Kent, as part of the Margate Summer Series 2024!
The band that always gets people Rollin' and just makes you wanna Break Stuff; Limp Bizkit, fronted by the icon that is Fred Durst, have sold over 40 million records worldwide since the 90s, and this chance to see them is a rare occasion that may not come back again soon, especially since this gig was originally scheduled for last year and had to be rescheduled. Live at Herrington: The Human League

Where: Herrington Country Park in Sunderland
Sunderland's Herrington Country Park is no stranger to huge nights of music, and this July it will be in for another, as it welcomes Synth Pop's first international superstars, The Human League, for an unforgettable, nostalgia-fuelled night where all in attendance will be together in electric dreams!
Whether The Human League were an intrinsic part of your youth and you're looking to capture some much-needed nostalgia, or you're too young to ever experience 'Don't You Want Me' live in the flesh and want to act like a 70s pop icon; this huge gig in Sunderland will deliver any-and-all desires.

Hotel Lux: Independent Venue Week 2024
When: Saturday 3rd February 2024
Out Of Phase and Marshall Live Agency presents Hotel Lux for Independent Venue Week 2024 in Liverpool. These guys are one of the most underrated bands on the circuit, the Pompey pub-rockers have carved their own path since moving to London. Their tracks are fresh yet familiar, eclectically crafting a musical avenue that is oh-so-interesting and fun to listen to.
Charming and honest in their lyricism, confident in the weirdness of their instrumentation, Hotel Lux are a band that have to be listened to, and this Independent Venue Week you can at EBGBs; grab tickets below!

Where: The Jazz Cafe in London
One of the UK’s most iconic Hip-Hop artists – Jehst – returns to the legendary Jazz Cafe stage for what is sure to be another capacity show. Having been at the forefront of the UK’s Hip-Hop scene for the past 20 years Jehst has been pushing the boundaries of his chosen art form while providing the blueprint for countless sound-alikes, Jehst’s sound has defined a generation. With a discography now stretching into triple figures his career has been typified by a restless creativity and side-projects galore.
Performing all the best-loved tracks from his 6 incredible albums this live show is sure to be another highlight of one of the most accomplished home-grown rap careers. As an MC, producer and driving force behind his own YNR label Jehst has asserted himself as possibly the most influential rapper to ever emerge from these shores. Grab tickets below!

Now Wave presents Yin Yin plus support Sea Breeze at The White Hotel this February. Using South East Asian music from the '60s and '70s as a main inspiration and mixing disco, funk and electronic music to create a sound that is so wildly groove-laden and original that has to be heard to be believed; they are one of the coolest bands around at the minute.
With two epic records under their belts and one more on the way this year, they're truly in their musical stride and there is probably no better time to see them, especially in the surroundings of Manchester's best underground venue, The White Hotel. Grab tickets below!

A man and his band that need absolutely no introduction, Nile Rodgers and Chic will be bringing their legendary brand of Funk and Soul to the grounds of Dreamland for yet another of the Margate Summer Series in 2024!
The 'Good Times' will be flying about, and many will be getting their Le Freak on as thousands make their way down to the park to jam to one of the most celebrated funk and soul artists ever. Plus, the Support is no joke either as the fantastic Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be bringing murder to the dancefloor. Get your tickets sorted asap, and get ready to see Everybody Dance. This one's going to be a belter.

Independent Venue Week- Andrew Cushin Acoustic Set

Where: The Garrison in Barnsley
Geordie indie extraordinaire, Andrew Cushin has a true penchant for enchanting vocals and heartfelt lyricism that is becoming increasingly rare in the modern indie scene, and this acoustic night in Barnsley, courtesy of Independent Venue Week, is not one to miss!
From working with Noel Gallagher on one of his latest singles to supporting some of the biggest names in the business, the singer/songwriter from the toon is both vastly talented and incredibly charming and thrives in an acoustic setting. The band, who’ve already earned themselves three number-one albums on the iTunes Worldwide Blues Chart and a top ten on the US Billboard Blues Charts, come to some fantastic venues this year, and we think this one at the stunning Belfast Empire is hard to miss. The Pharcyde & Lords of the Underground

Legendary American Hip-Hop group The Pharcyde will be travelling across the pond for a run of shows with the Lords of the Underground that will bring their classic singles like 'Runnin', 'Passin Me By', and 'Drop' to an adorning British crowd. Our pick of the lot is the Bristol date at the O2 Academy, mainly due to how amazing the room is.
Known for infusing jazz, soul, and funk samples throughout their catalogue, the group, along with other hip-hop groups/artists such as De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, and Souls Of Mischief, created a whole new lane within the hip-hop genre that crossed over to the mainstream and is seen widely across the genre today.

Skinny Living - Independent Venue Week Tour

Where: The Ferret in Preston
Skinny Living’s story is one of struggle, troubling situations and relentless hard graft. It’s also one of synchronicity, chance meetings, and the unflinching belief that their glorious indie soul music will reach the audience it deserves. Their potential is there to see. Echoing Bill Withers, The Isley Brothers and Paolo Nutini, their songs shimmer with a timeless, gentle beauty, exquisite vocal harmonies and a lyrical wisdom that inspires optimism and reflection in equal measure.
Such beautiful music is also one that has to be seen live to be truly heard, and this year, for Independent Venue Week, they are heading out on tour, and this night at The Ferret in Preston - a venue that has been going through its own potential closure troubles - is going to be the perfect opportunity.
