Returning after an extended but much need winter break, The Tuesday Club is back, and picks up exactly where it left off - bringing the hottest underground musical talent to Steel City on, you've guessed it, Tuesday nights.
The 27th of January sees the first of Tuesday Club's 2015 shows at Foundry, with nine piece African funk, soul and reggae band K.O.G & The Zongo Brigade taking charge. The groups energetic mix of tones and grooves accompanied by Afrosoul vocals make for a real rabble rouser in the live setting - guaranteed to get your feet moving. See why in their set at Yellow Arch below.
The Tuesday Club welcomes a Winter Carnival on February 3rd to destroy our wintry blues with one of the world's greatest and best known dub reggae sound systems in tow - Channel One. The internationally revered outfit will be joined by 'Champion Selecta' Benny Page, whose hip hop, reggae and dub inspired drum&bass has made him a key player in the UK's scene.
The quality continues with a guest slot from bass house overlord Julio Bashmore on February 10th. Anyone who's been near a club in the past three years will no doubt have experienced 'Au Seve' first hand (if by some miracle you've not, check it out above), his repertoire boasts addictive basslines, catchy hooks and smooth as you like production, which alongside a guest slot from MadTech favourite Simba will make for some damn fine dancefloor fodder.
Simba returns on the 17th, this time alongside The Magician whose Balearic disco and groove heavy house never fails to deliver, as heard in his Magic Tape above.
As a slight change of tack, the Tuesday Club throws a spanner in the works and teams up with drum n bass pioneers Hospitality on Friday February 20th, with brand boss High Contrast joining Metrik, S.P.Y, and Hazard landing at The Octagon Centre. Unmissable for Steel City's drum&bass heads.
The last show of the month on February 24th sees things go off on a UK garage tip, with one of the genre's figureheads - Wookie taking headline duties. Having worked with the likes of Jessie J, Justin Timberlake, and Roll Deep, Wookie's pedigree is there for all to see, whilst records like his remix of Sia's 'Little Man' (above) remain stone cold dance music classics. DJ Barely Legal and Andy H support.
