The Utopia Strong and Konformer come to Manchester in September

Steve Davis, six-time snooker champ, brings his trippy electronic band The Utopia Strong to Manchester with German band Konformer.

A night of hypnotic electronic music with psychedelic vibes is coming to The Yard in Manchester on Friday 6th September 2024, thanks to The Utopia Strong and Konformer. 

The Utopia Strong, a British electronic band co-founded by six-time world snooker champion Steve Davis, will perform. The trippy trio is made up of Steve Davis, Kavis Torabi (also of the bands Cardiacs, Gong, and Knifeworld), and Michael York (AKA Teleplasmiste). The band fuses modular synths with conventional instruments, creating weird left-field electronic psychedelic music. 

They’ll be joined by Konformer, a German band known for their minimalist electronic sound. Signed to Before I Die, Konformer has been compared to early Kraftwerk and a sedated version of Neu!. To wrap the night up, Before I Die’s CEO Jason Boardman will pick music alongside Yasmin Lever AKA Small Press.  

The Yard, with its intimate capacity, is a special place to host such an event. It’s primed to allow spectators to totally immerse themselves in the music and forget about the outside world, locking in with the bands on stage within close eyesight.
