If you find yourself in Brum and the sun is shining, then a beer garden is bound to be on the agenda. So, we want to let you in on all the best ones to cool down with a crisp pint in, get scrolling!

Birmingham is often underrated in how much it's got on offer when it comes to days out drinking, with beer gardens and rooftop bars aplenty. But, with the city being as big as it is, you and your mates will want to avoid the stress of scrolling through google maps trying to find a place to base and enjoy the rays with a bevvy.

So with warmer days coming thick and fast, we've gathered some of the best beer gardens the city got to offer. Whether you want a nice canal-side piss-up, a rowdy city centre party, or a secluded back garden to spend the night ribbing your pals, we've got you covered. So have a scroll down our list and avoid the struggle of finding a seat.

 

 

Zumhof Biergarten

Serving up the Brum-infused slice of the Berlin party scene, Zumhof Biergarten is the place to be to enjoy some German beer, quality street food and a proper outdoor party. Serving up a saucy mix of themed parties from UK Garage brunches to open-air Summer Classic sessions this place is no stranger to a good time and will provide the vibes for any sun-soaked day out.

The Flapper

Where: Kingston Row, Cambrian Wharf, Birmingham B1 2NU

Despite the name, none of your gang will be flapping out of this one. Found on the Cambrian Wharf this canal-side treat is a pub with a two-storey music venue, and is known as a mecca for mods, rockers and punks throughout the city. Oozing the old-school rocker vibe The Flapper serves up a large range of draught beers, and some quality pub grub. Being only a stone's throw away from the Utility Arena, ICC and Symphony Hall, The Flapper is the place to go for pre-show booze.

The Distillery

Where: 4 Sheepcote St, Birmingham B16 8AE

One of the biggest beer gardens the city has on offer, The Distillery is an ideal spot to soak up the sunshine when in Birmingham. Plus, with an onsite gin distillery, the place knows a thing or two about the art of gin, and with so much to choose from, you'll spend ages trawling through its menu looking for a cool favour, only to end up ordering the pink stuff again. Plus with an excellent array of scran, from wood-fired pizzas to rotisseries, you won't ever have to move. Ideal spot for a day boozing with the pals, just remember the sun cream!

Dead Wax

When approaching dead wax, you'll be greeted by a neon sign that reads 'Beer, Vinyl, Pizza' and it does what it says on the tin and so much more. An indie paradise, this pub works with a variety of independent brewers to bring you the best beer the country has one offer. Not only this but the music is 100% vinyl only, with an onsite DJ constantly spinning tracks, it's a proper vibe. Plus, if you fancy yourself a connoisseur, then the DJs may even play your vinyl, just try not to be disappointed when they reject your Oasis repress (they're much cooler than that.)

The Canal House

Now this one is for you boujee buggers out there, or just those of you after a more civilised day out. Winner of best pub in the Midlands in 2019, The Canal House doesn't hold back on its beautiful decoration and stunning canalside beer garden. With a wine bottle and glass chandelier, the decor will have you stunned and wishing you'd put something a bit nicer on. Hosting events throughout the year and always providing live music, The Canal House provides a perfect setting for a more classy occasion.

Boho Beer Garden

The creative hotspot of Digbeth, Boho Beer Gardens is one of the coolest spaces in the whole city. Its carefully curated space screamed good vibes and with street food, craft beer and parties to boot, you'll never be disappointed by what's served up here. Sit back with your pals and enjoy the atmosphere of the place, or maybe even pop down to one of its art, fashion or market events. It's all provided here and it'll leave you wanting to come back and do it all over again.

The Old Crown

Cited as one of Brums oldest boozing establishments (reportedly having people sinking pints all the way back in 1368), The Old Crown knows what it's doing. yet, it isn't a place you'll find your Grandad supping an ale, it's changed with the times and now has a fantastic modern beer garden on the back. Not only that but it hosts events ranging from raucous outdoor summer parties to awesome themed pub quizzes (we're waiting for the Gavin and Stacey one to show you all up), the vibes are immaculate and attract one of the most diverse crowds in the city. Do you need any more convincing?

The Clifden

Found in the stunning Jewelry Quarter, you'd think the Clifden was one of those classy upmarket establishments that line its roads, in fact, it's maintained a young, and diverse crowd, mainly down to its incredible art walls. Artists from Banksy to Obey have features in its garden and it's easy to see why, it's a bloody cool little space. but with an electric drinks menu as solid pub grub to go alongside, it's hard to ignore when looking for a place to lay back in the sun with your mates. A gem of the city for sure.

The Red Lion

Now we cant talk about the Clifden without mentioning its equally artsy sister pub, The Red Lion. Also found in the scenic Jewlerry Quarter, it follows suit in providing a more down-to-earth experience amongst the other haunts in the area. The beer garden here is a bit more quaint, however, being smaller in size, so it's much better for a catch-up or a date. But with an excellent range of beer alongside some classic pub grub, we can guarantee you it won't disappoint.

The Button Factory

The button factory decided recently that having one of the best rooftop terraces in the city wasn't enough, it need to add some of the coolest beer gardens as well. The industrial vibe of the Button Factory sets it apart from many in the city and provides a cool atmosphere. You just have to sup on some of its incredible cocktail selection too, which pairs wonderfully with the food on show from its Robata grill. The perfect place to scratch your beer garden itch and will provide you with many laughs and memories.
