There are huge outdoor events spaces, the rooftops of grade 2 listed buildings, or maybe you just fancy integrating with the locals in the backyard of a welsh boozer. Tramshed

The Tramshed is one of the most important live music venues in the city, with countless massive names gracing its stage over the many years it's been open. But, what many don't know is that it also sports a quality beer garden. Open through the day, where you can sit and enjoy a pint in the sun, but (more importantly), it also provides a pace to sink a few beers before a gig, and guarantee you first dibs on that front row spot you desire.

Whilst not one of the biggest, or most well-known Cardiff beer gardens, the perks that come alongside it are hard to ignore, so next time you've got a gig at the Tramshed, why stop anywhere else before?

Jacobs Roof Garden

Where: W Canal Wharf, Cardiff CF10 5DB

Nestled amongst the surrounding high-rise blocks you'll find the covert and increasingly popular Jacobs rooftop garden. Perched on what was once one of the tallest buildings in the area, now swallowed by new builds, this rooftop oasis of life is one hell of a hidden gem.

The garden is also only open on weekends, as well as this many of its events are ticketed, which is something that only adds to its allure and secrecy. You'll be able to do Pilates classes in the morning, midday inebriation sessions, or the evening parties. It's exclusive and one of the best beer gardens in Cardiff for sure.

Club 29

This beer hall & event space has a huge indoor bar & lounge with one of Cardiff’s largest selections of beers & ciders from international beers to local breweries. Not only this, but its festival-esque, covered beer garden is one of the coolest spaces in the city. With circular pod tables, street food vendors, and great vibes all night long, it's tough to find a better place to spend a warm summer's night. We all know Revolution, but unlike many of the establishments in other cities, Cardiffs branch is home to a quality outdoor beer garden that provides amazing cocktail-fused vibes all night long. With many themed nights and several cheap student deals, this Revolution stands out amongst the pack. So if you're here at an event until the early hours, or you just fancy stopping for a few fruity drinks in the sun, we highly recommend you stop by Revolution.

Depot

Since bursting onto the Cardiff live scene in 2015, Depot has become one of the most unique and iconic event spaces in the city, hosting everything from huge events to food festivals to its constant sell-out Bingo Lingo night. But what often goes underappreciated is its huge beer garden that opens up for many of the events, and for day drinking. Whilst many of these days are ticketed, it shouldn't hold you back from attending as it provides some of the best times you're likely to have in the Welsh capital, one of the best beer gardens in Cardiff for sure.

The Pen & Wig

An incredibly underrated beer garden for a chilled day or night drinking in the sun. Offering a more laid-back vibe to many on this list it's ideal for that date with your partner or a calmer night with the family. Not only this but the homely pub grub on offer here is definitely worth taking advantage of. 

Located close to the university campus and city centre, it's an ideal spot to step outside of the city centre rush for a bit and in terms of Cardiff beer gardens, it provides a lovely alternative to those closer to the centre that can get rowdy when the suns out.

The Philharmonic

Cardiffs Philharmonic is located in a gorgeous listed building and you'll be hard pressed to find any local who hasn't had a drunken adventure across its three floors. It's a venue for every occasion from breakfast, to bottomless brunches, lunches, dinners, coffees, to cocktails, to its extensive wine selection, It has it all. 

but, when the suns out and everyone inside is getting a bit sweaty, there are few better places to go than its Heiniken branded rooftop terrace. Offering an ideal place to soak up the city's undeniable atmosphere we think it's one of the best beer gardens in Cardiff, and when you give it a go, we're sure you will too.

Four Elms

Now if you're after a place to watch some live sport, whether it be the Six Nations or the Footy, then the Four Elms is the place to be. Located just outside the city centre, his recently refurbished pub has all you could need for a day in the sun, with a range of craft beers, and its extensive outdoor space packed with TVs it's hard to ignore. 

Providing a more traditional pub experience than most on this list, it's great to stop by even when the sport isn't on. You'll also feel safe as the iconic Gorilla mural hangs on the side of the building and watches over you as you drink the night away. So get yourself down there, you won't regret it!

 


 

The Woodville

One of the most popular student haunts in the city and its easy to see why, with a spacious interior and a lovely beer garden this venue has all the trimmings of a great pub. Whether you're after a quick, good-quality meal, or just a few pints with your pals, it's got you covered. 

One of the best things about The Woodville is that it knows what it is, it doesn't try and do anything fancy or jump on any quirky trends, its a classic student pub through and through, and when you consider its great outdoor space that is bouncing when the sun arrives, we think that it deserves a spot on any list of the best beer gardens in Cardiff.

 


 

The Cricketers

To finish it off, we've got another more laid-back pub for you. Found in an old victorian townhouse The Cricketers oozes an old-school British aesthetic. With a fantastic arrangement of Welsh beers and grub, it's clear to see why it become a local favourite. Not only this but it's just a stone's throw away from the county cricket ground (you'd hope so with the name), and come game day you're likely to find it bouncing. 

But, The Cricketer's beer garden is what sets it apart, plant-filled with a homely vibe, this beer garden is perfect for a bit of vino in the sun, but come winter, you should still head down for the roaring, open fires stoked up there, it really is one of the best Cardiff beer gardens year round.
