We're already in the the midst of June, which means that Pride Month 2024 has been well underway. To commemorate the occasion we’ve got the low down on the best places to celebrate Pride in the UK. LGBTQ+ nightlife has some of the best club scenes anywhere across the country and there are numerous cities that pop with vibrant and bustling events and club nights you can have a boogie to.

From Canal Street and The Pink Triangle to Soho, Kemptown, and beyond, here are our picks for the best places to celebrate Pride in the UK.

Manchester

A city that has long cherished its LGBTQ+ nightlife and community, there’s plenty to get stuck into in Manchester. Mainly concentrated around the iconic Canal Street, Cottonopolis and its surroundings are privy to top class club nights like Homoelectric, Not Bad For A Girl, Freak and Bent Hedonism. If that wasn’t enough, neighbouring Salford’s Pink Picnic prepares for its thirteenth year of grassroots pride celebrations.

Our offerings range from Soho to Brixton, Clapham and everywhere in-between.

Popping with colour and culture, Merseyside is a haven for all. Predominantly scattered across Stanley Street, which was officially christened as the Pride Quarter by Liverpool City Council in 2021, expect rows and rows of inclusive and wild nights to be cherished.

Take your pick on where to dance the night away or celebrate the community. If you ask us, the iconic Navy Bar features intimate and interactive drag shows, while on other nights bringing vibrant house and disco to the dancefloor in its new Diva Dungeon Pride Party club night.

Proudly coronated as the UK’s LGBTQ+ capital, where do you even start with Brighton? The South Coast paradise has plenty of tricks up its sleeve, from pierside parties to cool hidden gems scattered across the promenade.

Brighton and Hove have been a safe space for the community for as long as we can remember, having recorded LGBTQ+ since the 19th century. Kemptown, which could make a claim to being one of the most iconic gay districts in the UK, houses lots of bars, clubs and parties to sink your teeth into. Make sure to get down there for August as well, as Brighton Pride is the largest in the UK.

Leeds

Yorkshire’s biggest city certainly doesn’t disappoint with its pride scene. Its large gay district is predominantly nestled around Briggate, whilst Leeds Pride is the biggest of its kind in Yorkshire. Luckily for those rearing to party in Leeds for Pride, The Space have you sorted with an unmissable after party to take you right through to the early hours.

For all the Brummies out there, the West Midlands certainly doesn’t disappoint. Birmingham's bustling Gay Village is home to over 60,000 of the LGBTQ+ community and is one of the most iconic gay villages anywhere in the UK, and you aren't devoid of options for a good time. For those craving a disco rave, Disco P*ssy at either Hare and Hounds or The Old Crown provide an intimate but unshakeable part of the city's nightlife, while the likes of Mama Roux's offer some of the wildest parties in the city.

Nottingham

Birmingham aren’t the only Midlands city with a sense of pride. Heading further east, Nottingham has a very respectable LGBTQ+ community themselves, with lots to enjoy. Notts Pride at The New Foresters boasts two dancefloors and five DJs while Groovebox Pride Festival features the likes of Gok Wan and El Johno soundtracking a deep house and disco-infused Pride celebration at Binks Yard

Bristol

It would be a shame if a city famed for its rave and art scene didn't have a booming LGBTQ+ presence. The super queer and politcally charged Misscoteque, The UK's first queer drum and bass rave Unorthodox and record label BDE are just some of the movements popping off in Bristol, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Glasgow

Move north of the border for some more prideful festivities in Glasgow. Across the banks of the Clyde and Kelvin contain colourful characters and events.  Aside from Sasha Corby swinging by Slay in September, you've got Pride Glasgow - Scotland's largest LGBTQ+ festival - in addition to the queer club night SHOOT YOUR SHOT giving a taste of what to expect. The Scots know how to put on a good time so don't miss the chance to relish Pride in Glasgow while you can.
