While you might not know Bath to be a party city like Manchester or London, and instead think of it as a picturesque city in the countryside, you may be surprised to hear that in between the historic housing, the city plays host to a range of packed-out student events, bouncing bars, and spectacular boozers.   

So if you’re headed off to Uni there, it’s important to know which of Bath's student clubs and bars are worth your time. We’re all familiar with the Spoons and Greene King-type places, and they’re always a reliable spot, but if you’re looking for something different with more character and lots of students, check out the bars and clubs below.

The Bath Brew House

A veritable icon of a pub amongst the Bath student population, The Bath Brew House is a chic pub that provides a spot to drink in aesthetic surroundings, and tip-top offers seven days a week on all food and drinks. The Cork

Situated right in the heart of Bath, The Cork is one of the go-to haunts for student drinking. Boasting two bars, two vaulted Karaoke pods, The Vault event space, and a very large alfresco garden area, there's always something happening here. Whether it be their regular DJ nights, Pub Quiz, or Drag Queen Bingoyou'll never be bored at The Cork.

Plus, an extra incentive for you students to head here is that they have offers seven days a week on all food and drinks. Popular amongst Bath students on Wednesdays thanks to being able to secure a wing for 30p, and also being a prime spot to watch the footy, The Canon is a bar that is always packed and always a good time.

Plus with, discounted food & drink, and (more importantly) discounted bottomless brunch for students on Sunday to Friday (£25 a head for 90 minutes of nonstop boozing) it's quite obvious as to why it's a firm favourite. 

 


 

The Bell

If you're a student who doesn't necessarily enjoy your stereotypical student haunts, then where Bath is concerned, The Bell is a spot that you have to check out. A pub co-operatively by around 600 of its customers, fans, and workers, The Bell has live music three times a week ranging from jazz to blues to folk to other things, open mic nights on Thursday, plus DJ nights at the weekend. The best part? It's always free!

A local institution and a place you feel cool by association when inside, The Bell is one of Bath's best pubs full stop. So why shouldn't students be able to soak that up too?

The Plug and Tub

Where: The SU, University of Bath, Claverton Down, Bath, BA2 7AY

Where better to start with a list of the best student bars and clubs in Bath than The Plug and Tub in Bath Student Union? A bar and club found in the University Accommodation, The Plug and Tub is the go-to campus spot to meet with friends, have a few drinks, play pool, chill with a coffee, or dance the night away.

From their infamous 15-year-old Wednesday night, Score, where the Uni sports societies pile in; to their Plug Quiz on Tuesdays, which is only £1.50 to enter with amazing prizes to be won; or their variety of other events and DJ nights, this is one of the go-to spots for Bath students.

 


 

 

Komedia

Komedia is Bath’s first community-owned venue dedicated solely to live entertainment. Hosting over 400 events a year in the beautifully restored Grade II listed former Beau Nash cinema, their programme of comedy, music, cabaret, kids’ events, club nights and just about everything in between, is near unrivalled in the city, and a necessary venture for anyone who calls Bath home. 

For Students, in particular, there are few better spots when it comes to the weekend. FAME Fridays, where guilty pleasures reign supreme, have a range of drink deals; The Big Disco on Saturdays has some of the best Saturday drink deals you will find, and features a range of throwback favs; and they also have live comedy on Saturday nights if you fancy something a bit different. An institution when it comes to Bath student clubs.

Mandalyns

If you are a queer student coming to Bath, then don't worry, as the city's favourite gay bar, Mandalyns, has you covered for all of your theme nights, cabaret, and late-night happenings in the scene. An accepting safe space for any and all, once you step beyond Mandalyns unassuming exterior, you will be treated to a neon-soaked night of pure fun.  

Plus, on Wednesday nights, the bar opens up for its exclusive student night, where you can boogie along with the queens and kings and drink for prices as low as £2 for shots, £5 for doubles, and pints for £4.50 until 3 in the morning. What's not to love?

 


 

Second Bridge

Bath’s biggest club and party venue, and a vital part of the city’s vibrant nightlife, Second Bridge is a spot that many a student will pass through on their University escapades; with four dynamic spaces, delivering some of the best clubbing in the city, there's no surprise as to why. 

Where you students are concerned, their Monday Night Bridge nights are the one. With free entry, cheap drinks, and a variety of special guests and themed nights, it's always a good laugh.

Arguably one of the most popular Bath student clubs in the whole city, Labyrinth is one of the go-to spots for Bath's students who want to let loose whilst not making too big a dent in their bank account. With four areas, three bars, two clubrooms, and several dedicated nights out throughout the week, if you just want to get drunk, dance, and sing along, there are few spots better.

For students, Skint Mondays (where entry is 99p, and drinks start from 99p), GLAM Tuesdays (with 99p Bombs, £2 VK/Hooch/Bud, £3.50 Double Spirit Mixers, £1.50 Shots, and more), and WOW Thursdays (drinks from 99p) are the nights you should be targeting.
