Cautiously optimistic. An accurate way to describe the general feeling amongst music fans with regards to the return of the sorely missed festival season this year.
As it stands, the COVID forecast in Britain looks a lot brighter. The wave of infection most of us have had a run-in with as of late, due to the emergence of the Omicron variant, looks on paper to be less severe with hospital admissions much lower than those recorded at the beginning of 2021. Add on the success of the vaccine programme and our willingness to be responsible (not you, Boris) and visions of a future spent dancing in a field somewhere look pretty promising. Some good news at long last!
Yes, dear friends. This could very well be the year. The year when all of your favourite open-air music gatherings take to the British countryside once more. Come rain or shine - although we desperately hope it's shine - we'll flock in our thousands, tents and crates of beer stacked high on sledges, ready for a long weekend of back-to-back music running from sunset until sunrise. We just got goosebumps...
Remaining in this bullish and forward-looking frame of mind, we decided now would be as good a time as any to start shining a light on some of the festivals that share our optimism. The huge and unmissable events who believe we'll be back at it this year, with tickets already on sale.
So here you go! A long list of festivals you simply can't afford to miss in the spring, summer and autumn of 2022...
