Here are the albums that are getting us excited in January.

January is usually considered a slow month for the music industry as it starts back up again after the festive period. But this year, we are going to be spoilt with new year releases as 2023 is set to start with a bang. We've selected the albums that we feel will be making an impact in January and there may even be some early album-of-the-year contenders.
Samia- Honey
Samia's debut album 'The Baby' was a breakthrough pandemic success. Now, her follow-up 'Honey' is set to affirm that it was no fluke, with the singles released so far all being fantastic. 'Kill Her Freak Out' is a staggeringly powerful statement of being happy for someone who you used to love and it follows the trend of her deeply emotional songs that resonate on a whole other level.
The Murder Capital- Gigi's Recovery
One of the most exciting bands to come out of Dublin in recent years are back. The Murder Capital have utilised a distinctively bleak aesthetic in the past but it would appear that they're swapping it out for brighter pastures on their new album. Based on healing and recovery, 'Gigi's Recovery' is set to feature an eclectic range of emotions.

Gaz Coombes- Turn The Car Around
The Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes has proved time and time again that he knows how to write an anthem and his solo work is no exception. His new album is called 'Turn The Car Around' and it is the closing chapter of a trilogy of albums starting with 2015's 'Mercury'.

Billy Nomates- Cacti
If you don't know who Billy Nomates is, she has one of the most distinctive new voices in UK music and her new album 'Cacti' will be released this month. An album about "surviving it all", Billy Nomates is an album that she expects people to find themselves in so be prepared for an immersive experience.
Joesef- Permanent Damage
Glasgow artist Joesef has been a promising prospect for some time and his debut album 'Permanent Damage' is set to deliver on his potential. An album that is going to be full of heartbreaking moments, swooning romantic lyrics and grief in equal measure, strap in because it's going to be an enthralling listen.
Mac DeMarco- Five Easy Hot Dogs
Mac DeMarco has announced a new album called 'Five Easy Hot Dogs'. It's going to be a bit different from his usual material as it was recorded during a 2022 road trip. It will be an instrumental album with the song titles being the cities that they were recorded in. It will be his most unique project to date.
Maneskin- Rush!
After coming to the world's attention through their performance at Eurovision, people have been going mad for Maneskin and they have played at many huge festivals. The Italian rock stars are bringing out their new album 'Rush!' this month and it could help propel them to further stardom.
Ava Max- Diamonds & Dancefloors
Ava Max has had a quick rise through the pop star ranks and now finds herself in a position where pretty much all of her releases go viral. Releasing her new album on Atlantic Records, 'Diamonds & Dancefloors' could cement her status as a modern pop icon.
Rozi Plain- Prize
'Painted The Room' is the latest single released from Rozi Plain's new album 'Prize'. A celebration song in every sense, it will instantly lift your mood and is a good sign of things to come on her latest effort. An underrated songwriter. make sure you check out 'Prize' when you get the chance.
