Theo Parrish live in Manchester

Dance music loves its mavericks, and they don't come much more endearing than Detroit mainstay Theo Parrish who plays live in Manchester tonight at the Ritz. A truly enigmatic connoisseur of house, disco and techno, Parrish's command of a DJ booth is heralded across the globe, but his back catalogue is where the real genius lies.

Everything from lovingly off kilter disco edits to spacey techno sits within his range, first coming to prominence via Moodymann's KDJ imprint before releasing his classic debut First Floor on Peacefrog in 1998 (stream that below on Spotify).

This show will see him in the fantastic Ritz venue in an extremely rare live show between Band on the Wall, Red Bull Music Academy (who are elsewhere in Manchester this week), and Soundcrash, and it will see him joined by funk maestro Amp Fiddler, Akwasi Mensah, Dumine DePorres and Myele Manzanza to deliver a full band experience.
