The middle weekend of October sees Sankeys lay on a hearty electronic spread of electronic beats for hedonists and music enthusiasts to sink their hungry teeth into.
On Friday 14th the club will be thrown into the hands of Just Skank, with their blood curdling drum n bass, dubstep, hip-hop and breaks. Saturday's point of reference meanwhile will be the drawn out house and techno of Kaluki.
Just Skank open up the thrust with a typically jam packed line-up. Topping the bill here is rudeboy Mala, henchman alongside Coki for the vaunted Digital Mytsikz pairing. Making the kind of ethereal dubstep that has caught the ears of the electronica press the late John Peel was a supporter of their early stuff before his untimely death), Mala’s beats also come clearly constructed with the dancefloor in mind; eerie soundscapes the focus. And if that wasn’t enough he runs the best dubstep night in the Universe DMZ. Respect.
Support comes in the shape of a clutch of scenesters across the genres, with Kromestar, the dubstep alias of grime enfant terrible IronSoul, Silkie & Quest, Truth, Tunnidge, Vivek, Cyrus and Hijack all showcasing their grimy appeal. With sonic booms delivered on a pretty much hourly basis, the wobble is likely to last well into the next month.

Then Kaluki tackle the reigns alongside Lola Ed records. The French imprint has connections well into the strongest realms of house music, with Freak N Chic, Circo Loco and Brique Rouge among their celebrated friends. Jacking rhythms, stripped back grooves and full on bass lines are pretty much the cartel’s forte, and with a season spent lording it in the cosmopolitan stretches of Europe they descend on Manchester for more frolics.
Tonight they bring Chi Town legend MK down, the man who ran KMS records with Detroit founding father Kevin Saunderson and creates some of the most timeless and still well received dance music in the early nineties. AKA Marc Kinchen, he originated from the early techno scene, moving from Detroit to New York where he created a uniquely revered sound. Using a mix of chopped-up vocals, deep bass lines and sublime synths, MK set a standard for bringing pop music and underground house / garage closer together, and is widely credited as one of dance music’s true pioneers. He’s a hugely in demand remixer and producer, who is set to light up Sankeys as he makes his debut at the club.
Certified family Dyed Soundorom and Shonky also represent, the groove heavy heroes fresh off a summer as Dc10 residents, alongside further starlets in the shape of Sankeys’ own residents Ellesse, Darius Syrossian, Pete Zorba and Teknicolor.
