Here we are approaching the mid-point of July, and things are only set to get hotter at Sankeys.
This weekend sees another strong weekend of superlative house and techno action at Ancoats Mill, as Sankeys welcome a smorgasbord of international talent, bringing Balearic beats, sun-kissed grooves and woofer rippling basslines.
First up is Italian beatsmith Alex Kenji (pictured) for Thank Fuck It’s Friday. Recording and performing under a variety of pseudonyms, Kenji has been one of the most significant producers of the last five years, near enough owning the market on main room house music.
Kenji has recorded under these aliases (deep breath); Yoshie Chandler, Combo, Green Sugar, HouseLovers, D.L.D., Orange Love and Kaiko, ending up in the record boxes of a plethora of top DJs; Pete Tong, JUSTICE, Kaskade, Hernan Cattaneo, Chris Lake, John Dahlback, Joachim Garraud, Jason Nevins, Cirez D, Jon Gurd among them.

24 hours later, Kaluki has an event equally as sonorous and sexual in its appeal. Soul Clap’s vocal temptress Deniz Kurtel is on board, alongside Jamie Jones’ Hot Natured partner in crime Miguel Campbell to ensuring a bubbling disco feel to the edgy house grooves punctuating the Sankeys walls from the Kaluki’s resident roster of Ellesse, Jozef K and Treehouse.
Kurtel has become the centrepiece not only for Soul Clap but for Damian Lazarus’ uber chic Crosstown Rebels label, with her strung out soul the perfect juxtaposition for both imprint’s seductive take on house music.

There’s also just a few weeks to go before the Kaluki special with Hercules and Love Affair on August 6th. The globe-trotting collective, helmed by visionary Andrew Butler, have electrified festivals and clubs around the world and will perform live at Sankeys for a unique summer show. Quite simply – don’t miss this!
