The first wave of grassroots acts that will play at Liverpool's Threshold Festival 2017 have been unveiled, hitting the city's Baltic Triangle between Friday 31st - Sunday 2nd April. Celebrating a diverse range of local up and coming talent the festival has, since 2011, brought creative minds from across the north west and beyond to Liverpool for a weekend of great music and art.
XamVolo will showcase his unique blend of neo-soul which takes elements of grime and hip hop and marries them with rich vocals and meaningful lyrics. He's joined by Lack Of Afro who will spin the finest funk and soul during a DJ set, DFA artist Nils Bech and also bringing grooves galore are the wonderfully named Galactic Funk Militia.
Local award winner Tabitha Jade and South Korean fusion artist Grace Kim will channel soul jams and there's a slot on the Threshold 2017 line up for Oslo outfit KALANDRA who will journey into the weird and wonderful and celebrate Threshold Festival's scouse Scandinavian connection.
Also announced are rockers Lilium who return to Threshold a year after their last appearance which led to them being signed by Deathly Records. JUDAS also come wielding guitars to continue their ascent to full on rock and roll stardom, which shows no sign of stopping having played at Leeds Festival, Isle of Wight and Sound City this year. Hey Colossus also bring the noise as do Paul Dunbar & The Black Winter Band while pop four piece Danye feature too.
There's a call up for 'gypsy scouse surf' band The Shipbuilders who will feel right at home in the Baltic Triangle venue of The Old Cains Brewery what with their catalogue of psych sea shanties that delve into drinking, dying and all that's in between.
Tub-thumping trio Oya Papa and harmonious folk duo Limerance also feature while Loka will tap into third album Northern Oscillations which is released in early 2017. Grab your Threshold Festival 2017 tickets from the box below.
