The First Lady of Defected Records, enigmatic house producer, seasoned selector and much-loved radio host, Sam Divine took to her social media pages earlier this week to announce dates for her highly anticipated, Cloud 9 UK tour.
The run of shows - beginning on Saturday 9th April and ending on Saturday 14th May - will see the globe-trotting powerhouse arriving in nine iconic nightclubs in major cities across Britain this spring. Amongst those confirmed to welcome Divine are the likes of Joshua Brooks in Manchester, Mint Warehouse in Leeds, Lakota in Bristol, SWG3 in Glasgow and The Steelyard in London.

Referring to the concept behind the tour, Divine said:
"Cloud 9 was born after playing the Defected live stream at Ministry of Sound in October 2020. I’ve played warm-ups there many times back in the day to no one but the bar, so I was used to playing to empty dance floors. But something was real special this time. The club wasn’t empty because the doors hadn’t yet opened, they were closed to save lives.
"2020 feels like a myth now and it’s kinda weird going back through the archives. Playing to an empty dance floor but knowing that thousands were watching online, it was like it was the biggest show of my life! Full freedom to play what I wanted, to take people on a journey in their living rooms... It was a magical feeling that I can’t quite describe. When I got off the decks I was literally floating on Cloud 9. I felt so empowered that I'd had helped lift someone’s spirit in a dark time.
"As I drove home I was in a total state of blissful happiness! I mean I didn’t have a job but I had a roof over my head, food in the fridge and a full heart. I kept banging on about it all weekend, how I felt on Cloud 9 and my best mate Mills said to me, ‘You should do something with that ‘, and the Cloud 9 concept was born.
"I’m happy I've got the opportunity to turn a negative situation into a positive one, so come join me on my Cloud 9 UK tour in April /May 2022. I want YOU to feel like you’re on Cloud 9 when you leave the club!"
In what looks to be another very busy year for the dance music connoisseur, Divine has revealed that she will also appear at a number of other noteworthy live music events throughout the year. Fans can count on witnessing the South Londoner doing her thang live on stage at Manchester's Parklife festival in the summer and Snowbombing 2022, out in the French Alpes this April. Expect many more opportunities to see mixmaster live as the year progresses.
