It feels almost sacrilegious to look longingly towards a month that will almost certainly feature gussets of wind, harsh rain and sludgy decomposed leaves, particularly at a point when we’re being ensconced in sunshine. But certain people have the capacity to do it, and one of them unquestionably is Annie Mac.
The first lady of dance music, Annie pretty much epitomises the weekend. Her seductive lull and boundless enthusiasm for the more hedonistic caveats of electronic music has been a fixture in clubs, tents, beaches and, of course, the airwaves since she sashayed her way into our thinking in the mid noughties. And her Annie Mac Presents, a soiree befitting probably the most appropriate acronym ever in AMP, is just as revered by us all. And there’s a cracker on the way when she takes the shindig way up north to Edinburgh’s Picture House on Friday 22nd
Joining Annie will be a smorgasbord of talent, headed up by chart-topper par excellence Duke Dumont. The man behind the omnipresent ‘100%’ will also be bringing the secondary vocal presence on that track, the infectious MNEK whose song-writing prowess and space age croon will add an extra dimension to proceedings – check out his killer cover cum remix of Jennifer Lopez’ ‘Waiting for the night’ above.
Swiss producer Cyril Hahn and North East starlet Lulu James are also playing, and you can expect Annie to add further talent to the bill in the upcoming months.
