Last year Together was one of our favourite parties on the island. After consistently delivering great line ups and an unparalleled atmosphere, we were keen to see if the team behind the club night had carried on momentum for 2016. The clarification couldn't have been more enjoyable.
Last year Defected had hosted the Terrace whereas this year both rooms were curated by Together. There are various headliners curating the rooms and for our venture on 21st June, it was Netsky, Disciples, Monki, My Nu Leng, Rudimental and Gorgon City set to play, with the latter two hosting the rooms this week.
Knowing that Rudimental had charge of the main room was already reason enough to make the journey to that magical musical den they call Amnesia. The group bring the party wherever they go and their room was programmed and brimming with bass talent including Monki, Wilkinson and Netsky.
Rudimental included live percussion as part of their DJ set which added an extra element to proceedings, making each track come to life. They mashed up various drum n bass, reggae and jungle tracks with their own hits. A highlight of the set was when they dropped Ella Eyre’s ‘Waiting All Night’. Rudimental commanded the crown, encouraging to sing along, throw their hands in the air and we were treated to many a blast of that infamous CO2 cannon and a glitter cannon thrown in for good measure.
We flitted across to the Terrace where Gorgon City were commanding the room. Despite Kye and Matt being successful entities in their own right, Gorgon City are still relatively new with just the one studio album under their belt, but the pair just culminate hit after hit.
The powered through standout tunes including ‘Ready for Your Love’ and 'All Four Walls’, all the while the duo mixed and injected various house and deep house beats in between. Disciples had even entered the DJ booth earlier then expected just to get involved with the party. Gorgon City finished with ‘Unmissable’ which was a fitting end to killer set.
Disciples took over, unleashing some deeper undertones that were impossible not to move along to. The whole of the Terrace was involved with the bouncing bass-lines and hypnotic grooves. The trio had one serious house selection that were intertwined with their own hits including ‘They Don’t Know’.
My Nu Leng closed the main room with an eclectic mix of underground anthems meshed with new and unreleased material. The wobbing bass was present in droves, touching on garage, grime and even techno as they went along. Unsurprisingly ‘Soul Shake’ went off and as the crowds departed from Amnesia it felt like the party had only just began.
Together has a music policy which draws in music lovers from across the globe, particularly UK revellers who are near obsessed with this bass-laced house sound. If it's what you're into, there's nowhere on the island that brings it together quite like this.
