Top 10 Blackpool Hotels

Jenny Bennion explores the hotels of the North West's favourite seaside resort.

Date published: 30th Mar 2012

Blackpool is known as the North West’s biggest seaside and party resort and seems to be able to offer something for everyone.

From the classic attractions of the Pleasure Beach, the three piers and Blackpool Tower to the beautiful Opera House, Winter Gardens and Grand Theatres, if you’re looking for entertaining then Blackpool hopes to oblige.

But let’s face it, what we’re really about is music and here again Blackpool can provide. The town offers great live music venues; the Tower Ballroom, the Winter Gardens and North Pier all host a great range of acts from Fatboy Slim through the Arctic Monkeys to.. er… Jedward. What’s more, the new Tower Festival Headland has the capacity to host 20,000 people for gigs and events.

So, down to business. You’re set up for a night out in Blackpool and you need somewhere to stay. Read on for our pick of the Top 10 Hotels in Blackpool.

Best:

Hilton Blackpool Hotel

It may not be quite as good as other hotels in the Hilton chain, but the Hilton Blackpool has some good sized rooms, a nice pool and spa area and the breakfast (if you can get up for it!) is great.

Barcelo Blackpool Imperial Hotel

Certainly better looking than the Hilton, the Imperial Hotel holds a bit more elegant charm than most of its other Blackpool contemporaries. In places it may seem to be showing its age but in general it’s a nice clean hotel and its No 10 Bar is lovely, if a bit pricey. The real advantage of the Imperial Hotel is its location right on the prom, with secure parking for only £3.50 a day.

Premier Inn, Blackpool Central

Unsurprisingly, the Premier Inn does what it says on the tin; it’s clean, comfortable and you can get some good weekend deals. Again its location is great; especially its vicinity to the train station.

Cheapest:

Adelaide House Hotel

With rooms ranging from £22-£44 per night, the Adelaide House hotel isn’t going to break the bank. The owners are uber friendly and keep the hotel very clean and tidy. It’s located very near to the Winter Gardens so will be full of ballroom dancers during ‘show’ season – both close to the action and parking and handy if you run out of glitter spray!

66-68 Adelaide Street  Blackpool FY1 4LA T:01253 625172

Bradleys Hotel

With rooms from £25 per night, Bradleys is not unlike the budgie i.e. cheep (sorry). It’s never going to win any prizes for having the biggest rooms, but the owners are friendly, the location is central and large groups are generally welcomed.

80 Albert Road  City Centre, Blackpool FY1 4PR T:01253 753 334

The Ramsay Hotel

Right on the promenade, at the North Shore end of town, The Ramsay Hotel again is well located and thus very easy to find when you’re on your way back! There is also free customer parking, which is always a bonus.

Party & Large Group:

GR8 Hotel

Although the name makes us want to cry, this hotel offers clean cheap rooms and is very welcoming of large groups. It is well located just behind the Tower (again helps to find your way back) and has a decent party atmosphere and can arrange free passes and queue jumps to many of Blackpool’s clubs and bars.

56-58 Central Drive  Blackpool, Lancashire FY1 5QB

Party Inn

Another well located hotel that specialises in catering for large groups. It offers 24hr access, a late bar and breakfast is served at a leisurely and reasonable hour. Wellington Hotel The staff at the Wellington hotel pride themselves on being ‘part of the party’ and so offer free welcome drinks, beer garden, games room and even a dancefloor! All rooms are en-suite, clean and comfortable and the owners can arrange a good set of free passes, guest lists and queue jumps for many of the biggest clubs and bars.

Banks Street, Blackpool, Lancashire FY1 2AR T: 01253 708201

Stag & Hen Hotel (Holme Lea)

It’s not quite as posh as some of the other hotels listed and isn’t quite as well located, but the Stag & Hen Hotel is cheap and in their own words doesn’t offer any ‘petty restrictions’. Enough said really.

Holme Lea Hotel, 93 Lord Street, Blackpool, FY1 2DJ, Tel: 01253 625 766
