The big day is fast approaching and there's tonnes of events on offer, so to give a helping hand we've selected five events that we think will make this Valentine's extra special.

Valentine's isn't limited to swanky meals and whirlwind getaways, there's a lot going on around the country for those who want to party with their partner, or singletons who want to make their weekend one to remember. We've picked some of our favourite events that are taking place this week, guaranteed to get you feeling the love.
Blackpool's biggest and best show night takes over the VIVA venue on Friday 13th February for a night filled with music, dance and comedy (check out the video below for a taste of what to expect from their renowned shows).
The Winter Cabaret special features resident host Leye D Johns, Phil Jeffries, the spectacularly alluring VIVA Showgirls and a host of incredible vocalists.The show is full of brand new routines, and is suitable for all generations, as long as they love a bit of glitz and glamour. A Wing is making its highly anticipated return to the prison within Lancaster Castle as they host another set of events headlined by some of electronic music's finest. The first installment on Friday 13th sees disco authority Dimitri From Paris take centre stage for a funk and boogie masterclass. Grab your tickets.
The following day, infamous Manchester clubbing brand Hacienda takes over A Wing. Original residents Graeme Park and Mike Pickering will be providing the soundtrack. Get your tickets for Hacienda.
Rollercity Rochdale are hosting a special Valentine's event at their purpose-built venue on Saturday 14th. Complete with an American-style diner and stylish bar, Rollercity has all the components of vintage roller disco. Stick on your skates with your other half or with a group of friends and make the most of their nightclub themed complex. Get your tickets here. Supernova welcome some house and techno heavyweights to Egg London on Valentine's Day. Headlining the event is Visionquest mainstay Lee Curtiss, who'll be serving up some of his signature sexy beats (listen to 'Body Twitch' below to see what we mean). He's joined by Recloose and Mountain People. Head here for tickets.
It wouldn't be Valentine's without a serenade from a smooth voice, and O2 Academy Sheffield have enlisted American R&B and blues singer Alexander O'Neal for their event on Thursday 12th February. He became a household name following his chart success with tracks like 'Criticize' (listen below). Also performing is Rick Clarke. Grab your tickets.
