If you’re a drum and bass fan, chances are you’ve heard of Hybrid Minds. But even if you aren’t, you still might’ve heard of them. With some huge tracks under their belt, countless festival appearances over recent years, and a unique sound that blends melodic, soulful, energetic, and liquid sounds, the duo are on track to becoming festival headliners.
Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the duo or are curious about their sound, scroll down and have a listen to one of the hottest drum and bass acts dominating the scene right now.
In Your Arms (ft Koven)
An emotionally complex track, In Your Arms evokes nostalgia and melancholy with a splash of longing. Maintaining the drum and bass energy, you could see this track closing a rave set as you lovingly embrace your friends for one last touching dance. This is a track that proves Hybrid Minds’ ability to close festivals.
Solitude (ft Alexa Harley)
Wasting no time to give us an infectious, uptempo beat, the duo, with the help of Alexa Harley, kick off this dreamy and sincere track almost instantly. Alexa Harley was a cracking choice for guest vocals, supplying catchy, delicate melodies over an instrumental that speaks to the soul.
State Lines (ft Birdy)
Another Hybrid track that starts with a cinematic soundscape, State Lines starts off sounding like the soundtrack for a film set in space before launching into a gritty but uplifting chorus. It’s also a stunning example of how to use strings in a drum and bass track. And the reverbed piano riff is beautiful, sounding like trickling water.
Skeletons (ft. Grimm)
Unassuming at first, Skeletons then explodes with a chunky bassline you can feel vibrating through your skull, even at low volumes. The track is adorned with glistening sounds in the background that create an ethereal, otherworldly soundscape, further enforced by distant vocal echoes and samples. Hybrid Minds have a tendency to make emotionally weighted songs and this is a perfect example.
Touch (ft. Tiffani Juno)
Arguably the duo's biggest hit, Touch was released in 2017 and became a track that soundtracked many summers, festivals, and happy memories for thousands. Starting gently, the track erupts at the minute mark into a chorus most DnB fans will recognise from somewhere. With gentle keys, that signature drum and bass percussion, and a stunning, emotive vocal performance, Touch is another prime example of how Hybrid Minds effortlessly fuse energy with emotion.
The duo told us a few years back: “this track has developed into a bit of a moment in most of our sets. Full singalong goosebump vibes."
With stunning visuals at their performances and a plethora of bangers, Hybrid Minds are already one of the biggest names on the scene, and it looks like they have no plans to slow down.
