Wondering where to go this New Year's Eve? With parties, late nights and dancing until dawn back on the agenda, our latest research has revealed which city your hard-earned cash will go the furthest in on Saturday 31st December.
With 38% of us Brits leaving the search for the perfect New Year’s Eve party until the very last minute, scrambling to get hold of those always highly sought-after tickets between Boxing Day and the final day of the year, we thought we'd share with you some insight to help you plan ahead, beat the rush and ensure you're on the dancefloor when the clock strikes midnight.
Skiddle's team of elves have recently put their research skills to the test, working out the average cost of a taxi, a hotel, a ticket to an event, a pint and even a kebab in each of the nation's biggest cities, to help you decide where to celebrate the finale of 2022.
Taking the top spot is Nottingham, with our research indicating that the lively Midlands hub offers the most bang for your buck. The total cost for a New Year's night out in the city is expected to reach approximately £71.77 per person, whilst Aberdeen came in a close second at £75.34 and Norwich third, at £76.04.
Unsurprisingly, London is still the most expensive city to spend New Year’s Eve for an overnight stay or even just a night out, setting punters back £220 per person, followed by Oxford at £148 and York at £147.
Meanwhile, Cardiff took the hotspot for the cheapest city in the UK for a celebratory drink to wave goodbye to 2022, with the average pint coming in at £3.41, followed by Liverpool at £3.45 and Aberdeen at £3.48.
Those lucky enough to find the leftovers of last night's kebab by their bedside the morning after the night before will find the cheapest takeaway in Sheffield, which takes the crown at £5.03 - the best way to avoid the New Year’s Day hangover!
Offering value for your money, the results also showed that more consumers are planning to attend bottomless brunch events, with popularity for this type of event soaring in recent years. Searches for brunch events on Skiddle have increased by a staggering 180% since 2019. While these events might be deemed expensive at first look, bottomless brunches offer unlimited drinks, food and entertainment across a usually lengthy timeframe - the perfect way to stretch your money from Christmas into the New Year!
This year signals our biggest-ever for New Year's Eve events, with a variety of occasions taking place right across the UK - from heady warehouse raves and all-night 80s discos to bottomless brunches, stand-up comedy shows, outrageous drag spectacles and much more.
