Topman Unsigned Stage - Bands Announced!

UNSIGNED BANDS GET THEIR CHANCE AT THIS YEAR’S CARLING WEEKEND: LEEDS FESTIVAL - CHECK OUT THE LINE-UP!

Date published: 25th Jul 2007

The Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival demonstrates its commitment to local talent once again with the return of the Topman Unsigned Stage for 2007. With a bill drawn from bands from the North of England, Midlands and Scotland, the stage allows the most promising acts from the area the opportunity to play in front of the biggest festival crowd in the North alongside the national and international media over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.

With a bill drawn together by the expertise of festival promoter’s Mean Fiddler, BBC’s Raw Talent,  the radio show for unsigned acts in the North of England, and Sandman Magazine, the North’s first stop for aspiring musicians, you can be sure that the line-up reflects the bands most likely to move on to the bigger stages in the years to come.

A spokeperson for Topman said of the return of the Unsigned Stage:
“Topman have always strived to nurture and support young and emerging talent both in fashion and music. Our stores have the most progressive new music playlist on the high street and host in-store DJ sets by new bands and artists.”

The acts join a line-up that is, quite simply, the best selection of music you will hear all summer. From exclusive headliners to the hippest new bands, from NME Award winners to Mercury Music Prize nominees, The Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festival 2007 is the only place for the serious music fan this summer.

If you arrive on site on Thursday then the weekend just got even better. The Topman Unsigned Stage will become the home for Leeds label Dance To The Radio for the evening with a headline set from label heads Forward Russia with able support from The Wallbirds, Sky Larkin, Shut Your Eyes & You’ll Burst Into Flames, Grammatics and Dance To The Radio DJ’s. You lucky people.

Beyond the bands, the festival will also feature top name comedy and cabaret, late night entertainment and film and DJ sets throughout the campsites from the people who make the festival what it is, the crowd themselves. More details of new initiatives will be coming soon but for now, here are the bands that will be stepping up to get noticed at this year’s Topman Unsigned Stage, check their websites to get an early idea of who you want to make sure you see this year.
