Groove Armada. Sasha. Joris Voorn. Dj Sneak. Pete Tong. All those names symbolise the utmost quality in electronic music, and they're headliners that have graced the unlikeliest of house music destinations in recent times, Uber in Carlilse. Perennial purveyors of international talent, the irrepressible clubnight are bringing one of their other stellar previous guests in the shape of Annie Mac on Saturday 3rd May, setting up stall once more in The Venue for a six hour Bank Holiday special.
Annie remains one of the most well loved and revered of DJs in the UK. Her Gaelic inflection has become instantly recognisable to anyone with even a passing interest in electronic music over the past decade, the narrative component to a furious championing of the rougher and readier strains of modern rave that excited her.
She's become a totem for blistering bass music, from the wobble of full on dubstep, tearout of drum and bass and the glistening sonics of the poppier vibes from Disclosure and Bondax, whilst showcasing the finest in house, electro and techno as well. Easily a national institution, her DJ sets pretty much showcase everything about the reason we all head to clubs, hedonistic musical escapism, and the perfect leader for session during the extended weekend.
As is the norm with Uber they've balanced the presence of former greats with a new star in the shape of a DJ set from Shadow Child, the new alias of former Toolroom star Dave Spoon. you can preview the depth in his current groove heavy Djing styule in the mix he delivered for Mixmag above.
His nouveau take on house music has seen fervent support from a litany of greats of the rave such as Claude VonStroke (who has signed tracks to his and Uber stalwart Justin Martin's label Dirtybird), Eats Everything, Yousef and Annie herself. Support from the uber residents and regulars, headed up by Ki Creighton, rounds off the bill.
